Exactly what I was looking for, the fear of inching the cams to compensate for the chain’s sprocket engagement was a bit frightening until I watched your video. Thank you for this explanation and tomorrow when I receive the new chain I’ll know exactly how to engage it on the tooth.

I would like to mention that the marks on the primary chain is deceiving in that the actual timing marks on the vvt sprockets are not exactly on the tooth. This makes using the camshaft alignment tools necessary. Many guys think it's okay to put the chain on and it will be timed. But you can be off a tooth and think the alignment is perfect. It's not a job you want to do twice because you got a p0016 correlation code after you changed the water pump.

Does the engine have to be pulled for this repair?

It does not. It was pulled due to this particular vehicle getting many other replacements that were made easier by dropping it all out of the car.

If it breaks it could mean you need a whole new engine, ive heard its a good idea to change around 100k

Changing the engine oil with full synthetic every 4000-4500 miles. Not following the cars built in maintenance system lol.

Absolutely! They have high failure rate! Combination of carbon buildup and oil starvation.

You forgot to tell us that the chain guide on the right has to be put on before the phaser😢 Now I’m off to buy another set of bolts

That is a Cloyes kit and all those parts are made in china.
