Probably a 4610 engine, you can tell it’s a 10 series engine because of the ribbed block, the filter for the coolant system and the integrated sediment and diesel filter housing. The 4610 engine was nearly the same price as the 3610/3910 so most people put in the bigger hp unit, both were physical the same size.

This is the first vehicle I ever drove. The sound of that engine was exactly as I remembered. There will never be a tractor that means more to me than this one.

good tractor, built to last, fired right up, if you put a tractor of today in a barn for 8 years and then tried to start it, forget it, if the rats and mice hadnt eaten all the wiring and electronics, you would need a IT specialist to get it going

My dad had 2 3000 ‘s back in the day learnt to drive tractors on them probably about 8 Year’s old or when my feet could touch the pedals, then 4000, 5000, 7000 topped out with Muir Hill 121 those were the days !!!

That fired up quick! Ford 7000 could be a right pain in the backside starting up on a cold day. The 4000 they always fired up much better. Another brilliant video once again. 👍

We have a Ford 4600 and say we used it in the morning, 4 hours later it would Atleast take 4 cranks to get her going and the 3000 fired straight up for you! 🤣

I used to muck spread and cultivate with one of those, nice little tractor. Give it a coat of paint and it will be good as new.

Unsure about the nose. It has the later Force bonnet (no cooling fins) and the nose is from a Force too

Oh the old days, a computer free workhorse tractor. Dirty and grimy but I bet being on your farm it was kept mechanically maintained when it was in use, hence firing up so easily after standing for so long.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's a new block rather than being paint. Old ford blocks where known for being porous. I would check to see if it's stamped Ford or New Holland.

Great 3 cylinder engines these an were usually a fairly reliable starter even in cold weather 🤔 think you'll find that's a replacement block on that tractor havin the X cast into the block like that,an for some reason the 3000 was a lot faster on the road than the 4000🙄😂 look forward to you gettin her fettled Andy 👍

Just sold my 2000 this summer and never did a vid on it 😣. She started well though! They don't usually like cold so plenty of heat. As far as a slitter on it, I dunno if she'll run it but give it a try. Think you can put a return line in behind the seat. Mine had a loader on and it's return was there. Look forward to seeing how you go😊

I wonder if your John Deere 6215R will start after a few years standing when it gets to 40plus years old? Great old tractor's are those Ford's. Worth a bob or two and yours isn't in bad order, I have seen much worse. All the best for 2020 young man!

Id say the original block went porous and its had a new short motor. both our 4000's needed the same.

@@valtramant1545 Ford were Ford in those days, later Perkins did engines for both. I remember the boxes of rocker covers for the V8, and A3-152, I think it was designated, that went in all sorts of vehicles in the late 60s early 70s
