Ford 5000 Water Pump

Barn find 1968 Ford 5000 tractor, working on replacing the water pump. Power steering line management. Restoration in progress.

Hey Mark, I've found that when cleaning out a mouse nest, grease and oil mess out of the steering area that it's important to check for parts...a roughly three inch by about 3/4 inch flat stock was laying around loose in there. Also found in the gravel driveway another piece that had probably been there over a year and together they make up what looks like a power steering holder like you made. No indication that either was attached when I bought the tractor which explains why my hard lines were worn away to the point of leaking.

There is not much information about that factory holder, so I'm not really sure what was there to support the power steering lines! it didn't seem to hold up well, whatever it was, because every one of these tractor have the same problem!

Hey Mark, i think the generator bracket is originaly bolted to the block of thermostatique water vanne ;)

Will every new aftermarket waterpump have the thicker section for the generator bracket or just that certain one you got?

Pretty sure it was just the one that I got.. I found several other aftermarket ones that look closer to the original.

Hey Mark, dumb question...do you remember on the power steering cylinder which port is the high pressure versus returns to the reservoir?

On mine, the top port is pressure, the bottom was return

I use the Tisco Ford Empire Blue # TP360SP. Comes in a pre mixed spray can. Hope that helps.
