Old cars have so much character. Most cars today are boring pods.

Used to, you could tell what car it was coming down the street at night, from the lights configuration. Today you have cookie cutters.. they all look the same. Yes boring.

Love that 1957 ford fairlane custom model. My first car ever was that one. I bought it used in 1961 with 25 k on it. The shift was three speed on the column and the V8 engine was the 272 cu in. With a two barrel Carb. So I got good gas economy and that V8 ride. I had to replace the water battery , temp. thermostat, rear main bearing seal and noisy rear gear box. The engine oil was always clean and changed it a 3000 miles religiously. The original paint job held up through the years I owned it. Spark plugs and points were cheap and a basic tune up was easy. There was not an ounce of any rust on the rocker panels. The car was owned by that school teacher down the street. She was Go Granny Go ! It was a two door making it look more sporty, which was not all that important. I did a lot of work souping the car up to look hot. Work that not really necessary though. I kept the car until I went to Nam and gave it to my brother. He totally trashed it. Nice brother, he thought I was not coming home from the war. So he sold it cheap ! In 1967 my USArmy tours were over and I was not making a career out of it. When I came home , Bro put aside $1000 for me, but he never told me what he sold the car for. I let it go, hell he was family and I survived two tours in Nam. I did buy a red 1966 Ford Galaxy convertible , using his saved $ 1k as a down payment. In 1970 I got married and my car became my wife’s car. She never owned her own car and beat the crap out of mine. Then too soon enough a Station Wagon was our new mode of transportation for the next twenty years. I am turning 80 this week and wish I could turn back the clock or at least own once again my sweet 57 Ford Custom Fairlane. Life has passed me by and I do not like todays cars, especially those dammed E cars. Last week I took a ride in a restored 57 Fairlane and it mentally took me back to 1961. I felt like a teenager again until I looked in the rear view. My advice to you all is buy that car you love most and keep it running. To hell with the family car idea.

I love that color thats exactly how I would paint mine but I prefer the 1958 Ford hood with the chrome insert in the hood. Also I would like to do a straight axle and make it a Gasser.

Yes. In the 1963 Daytona 500 the porcupine-head 427-CID Shitrolay blocks were going like heck powering the Wimpalas of Junior Johnson, Johnny Rutherford and company at world-class speeds-for around 150 miles. Then the so-called "mystery motors" began blowing up. Their thin-wall casting couldn't withstand the 500 miles of Daytona. The cross-bolted Ford 427s took over and finished 1-2-3-4-5 that day with Tiny Lund in the Wood Brothers Number 21 leading the way! Take that you Bowties!

Not for me , I prefer the 57, I’ve had both. My 1st was a 58 post with a built y-block. My 57 was a 500 with a 351w , I restored it 30+ years ago and just sold it 2 years ago. If I get another it will be a 57 post.

@JimboVids but the truth of the matter is it "OUTSOLD" meaning they accomplished more then what the chevy did its not about the engine or the logo its about THAT CAR THAT been there out hauled it fair share of loads killed people on the roads survived the crashes aches and flips and went pass new vehicles mileage and tripped. Until it accomplishes just that then the maker is shit. FORD 1975 Ranchero remember that.

Ford screwed up in 57 by not offering a 4 speed transmission. Had they offered it behind the 312 Police engine, the 57 Ford would have dominated any 57 283 4 speed Chevrolet. Saw that proven in Denver back in the 60's. The 312 "Y" block was a monster. However Ford management was then as it is today...run by a bunch of idiots.
