For the '05 and later (or at least with my '06) with the plastic CAC hose there is a little metal spring clamp *under* the hose clamps in a little groove in the plastic hose. This little spring clamp is very easy to remove, or just slide back, and makes the removal and reinstall of the plastic hose *much* easier. OBW, thanks for your videos, lots of info and easy to understand!

The injectors are the main thing that suffers. The magic number I'm told is 40 PSI. if it fails to go under 40 for a long time then the injectors don't fill completely. This causes performance issues and over time major major wear concerns. The oil pressure on the other side of the injector is still there maybe over 20,000 PSI factoring the intensifier piston surface area of the injector and if the fuel is not there. Then the less resistance causes the piston in the injector to travel faster.

Ron, at the very end you say " .. we now have a higher fuel pressure which will save our injectors ..." is that the purpose of the blue spring? Running at 60 PSI and above? And how does that save the injectors ? Thank you in advance for you your comments!
@wesleytejeda9 жыл бұрын
Ilian Stantchev From what I understand fuel in these Diesel engines also serves as a lubricant for the injectors and if you dont have the pressure the injectors will fail because of friction and be damaged.
@charliekings19937 жыл бұрын
What he meant by save the injectors is that you don't starve the injectors at high pressure

HELP! did blue spring kit in my truck, everything hooked up. bent the return fuel line. I got a new fuel line. got the old one out, but I can't get the new one in! do I have to remove something to get clearance? is there a certain way to put it on? I've tried getting it in there but the space between the hose to water pump and the block is so tight the line doesn't even fit through it. what am I supposed to do?
@DieselTechRon8 жыл бұрын
You can feeding it up or down. If needed use a 6mm Allen and undo the bracket. Then feed it in and reinstall the bracket. They aren't all the same. One is even on the outside of the thermostat housing.

Is the Blue spring upgrade a recommended upgrade? Does Ford recommend this upgrade? I bought a 2004 F250SD w/6.0l, 137,000 and was able to get a 2year/24,000 Ford Warranty with it. The truck had a history since new with this Ford dealer. However, I'm not sure if this upgrade was ever made. Is it marked on the outside to indicate this upgrade. I want reliability not performance. No tuning just upgrades. I installed a Mishimoto coolant filter and the truck was Bullet Proofed with a new round EGR cooler and Ford Oil cooler as part of my pre delivery before I took the truck home at purchase time. What about a Mishimoto radiator or thermostat, what's your recommendation? Thanks, I really enjoy your great videos.Kent
@Dieselpitstop8 жыл бұрын
the blue spring kit is a ford update. hints why its sold by ford. the factory regulator spring was not stiff enough to maintain oem fuel pressure for between 50-65psi. if you measure fuel psi at idle you may have 50-65 psi, but as soon as your under WOT your psi will drop down to about 20psi. this causes damage to the injectors intensifier piston and in the long run injector failure. its a great idea to do this upgrade no matter how many miles are on the truck.

Ron: We're looking a the New Ford Powerstroke and the GMC Duramax trucks. Which would you prefer?
@Brandon_Nelson929 жыл бұрын
tpcrb I am not nearly as experienced as Ron, but the conclusion I came to is this: If you are able to and don't mind monitoring certain things, like oil vs. coolant temps, then go for the 6.0, but keep in mind, little things like this can and will come up. with the duramax, your up-front cost will be higher, but will will have less small, tedious things to address. a watched and cared for 6.0 will be the better buy, especially if you like raw power but either platform will still be able to set you back in repairs if you don't keep an eye on things. each engine has its strengths and weaknesses. I personally just bought a 6.0 recently and so far, i love it. I have seen and driven a few duramax trucks from those years and wasn't impressed. if you go duramax, go for one with the allison tranny. the ford transmission with the 6.0 is pretty solid, so long as you keep on the maintenance.
@Brandon_Nelson929 жыл бұрын
tpcrb as far as new trucks, the ford makes much more power and has the better powertrain IMO . the chevy has a nicer interior. both trucks are great upon initial testing, but only time will tell in the long run.
@Dive-Bar-Casanova9 жыл бұрын
The Allison Trans has it all over the Ford. The 2015 Powerjoke has issues already Ford is aware of and not notifying customers. Customers are getting stranded. To say the Ford is better is ridiculous.
@dannymac78526 жыл бұрын
Dive Bar Casanova Allison has NOTHING over TorqShift when it comes to performing. People just associate the name "Allison" w/class 8 transmissions and buses etc,,, but the trans backing up the dmax is a much smaller, gentler, designed for smoothness over brute strength.. crank up the power more than a few notches and the Allison will start slipping and wasting any chance of using all that extra torque , and it was DESIGNED to do this. It's barely better than the 48RE. STOCK VS. STOCK the TorqShift will handle MUCH more torque. My 5R110 behind my 04 6.0 handled numerous 1/4mile blasts and 4WD launches in ~8K lb lifted C/C making over 1150 ft-lbs and ~~900HP
