I installed the blue spring upgrade on my 2004 F-250 6.0 last week. I can say I noticed the improvement in performance and increased fuel mileage! I am currently 80 miles farther on this tank of diesel versus my last tank prior to the install. All with the same hauling and daily driving! Best $80 I have spent in a while!

If you do this conversion make sure that you use the International/ Ford parts. I recently working on a 06 6.0L and looked at the fuel spring to make sure it was good to go. The spring that I took out was blue but comparing it to a real International blue spring the aftermarket "blue spring" was a lot weaker and the coils were a lot thinner in diameter. So make sure that the spring that you are putting in is a real International blue spring replacement spring and not just a "blue Spring".

We had an injector go out in our '03 Excursion 6.0L, clogged the egr and pouring fuel smoke out the exhaust. So, we had the shop do an egr delete and replace the whole bank, 4, injectors on one side. Half a year later, wife hits a deer and we get that fixed, I'm driving it around for errands then home and the FPR is leaking badly. Well, I knew I should've done this kit when we bought it 3 years ago.

I ended up torquing the fuel line off the bowl, may have to replace the entire line now that it’s effectively crimped and not perfectly round. Hard learning a 6.0 on my own. This would be a mistake worth cautioning in the film. Good luck.

I second this, my 6.0 has 275xxx miles, was leaking from the bottom of the regulator. Easy job for sure, worked on my own vehicles for years. The two nuts on the compressed fitting for the fuel line were essentially seized together. I could not get them to separate no matter what, unfortunately I too ended up having the fuel line bend and crimp at the elbow. Not a big deal, just another trip to the store for some universal fuel line and hose clamps. Cut off 2” of bent/crimped elbow section and replaced with new flex line. Added a good half an hour to the job but worked great! I ended up having to vice the nuts soaked in WD-40 to get them separated just fyi, that was the worst part! But to agree with the OP, if your rig is high mileage and this hasn’t been done yet, be aware of this being a possibility before you try to loosen the 13/16” nut 😂

@@nickconrad94 From factory there is no blue spring for higher pressure. I have one of the last 2007 trucks and it didn't have the upgrade spring. Someone has to decide to change the spring. Most do not because they are unaware of the benefits or they do not like the cost of paying another to do the work. If you haven't done this go ahead and do it.

Hi, I just bought another 6.0 Diesel 2005 F-450 Runs Rough, Bought it cheap. I am looking for upgrades to salvage this engine or try to find out if I need to replace the engine. Previous 1 owner says he has never done anything to the engine except maintenance, change oil, fuel filters, etc; He said it died on him several times, so he parked it, bought a '16 Duramax, and put the F-450 in his backyard. After about 8 months, I finally bought the truck where i thought I needed to be. I got it running and Now it's all discovery, and finding out where to start with which parts to put on it.

Hi Wade. Thank you for these videos. They are most helpful. I drank the cool aide and pulled the trigger. I just finished installing an oil bypass and coolant filter kit. Next up, the Blue spring replacement kit project. Wade, because I don't know the maintenance history of the truck, I was planning on replacing both fuel filters as part of this install. I cracked the upper filter cap. 2 questions. I think it was because I should have started with the lower filter first to relieve the pressure in the system. Is this correct? And, should I do so during this installation or just move forward as shown in the video and start with the blue spring replacement and then move on to the filters? Thank you.

@thoroughbreddiesel

The BSK increases fuel delivery pressure to the injectors by 10 psi or so. Plus is a upgrade to a wore out regulator spring with high mileage on it that doesn’t allow correct fuel pressure to the injectors.

Question. Have you experienced a noisy fuel system after a blue spring install? My 2003 6.0 has a strange noise when you first turn the key and the system is building pressure. Sort of a buzzing sound “in addition to the normal injector buzz”Like a leaky pressure scuba regulator or letting off air brakes slowly. The same sound happens intermittently while the truck is operating. A dealer did the install.

isn't pressure in the coolant bottle mean they have good head gaskets? cause you made it sound like a bad thing
@thoroughbreddiesel
@thoroughbreddiesel 2 жыл бұрын
Pressure in the coolant bottle is normal. However, if the coolant bottle is pressurized to the point it is pushing coolant out of the overflow or the pressure stays in the coolant bottle for a extended time period after shut down, then those symptoms need to be analyzed for a possible head gasket failure, or to figure out where the combustion gasses are coming from.

Can you answer a question for me replace left pump And sending unit now and pump is cycling getting foggy diesel the truck will run for about 3 to 4 minutes then die upper filter housing nothing but air can you help me
@dwthomle
@dwthomle 4 жыл бұрын
Check the HFCM and make sure the fuel filter is seat correctly and that you have no leaks. If it draws air any where between the tank pick up tube and the pump in the HFCM the system will not prime. This may be the cause of what you are seeing. I had it happen on my rig.

im going to say it dosen't matter, if it's your own truck, and you need it, the work is the worst thing ever, if your working on it with someone elses wallet, it's just turning wrenches, I always become extreemly fustrated working on MY truck, but to work on any other truck is just a matter of following the procedure, taking your time, and replacing parts that should not be reused, or are just standard to replace while you have something apart., yes inline 6 is a good engine, but if the dowl drops down the front cover it's just as devistating as any of the faults with the 6.0 powerstroke. not thats the dowl is the only cummins issue, but just one that relates well, i think a big issue with the 6.0 was it was a time that tuners were pushing engines pretty hard, in addition to the epa regulations being a bit unproven, had all these 6.0 never had a tuner pluged into them, and they had egr's either taken care of right away, or removed, then we would see much better outcome., put just a bit of coolant in a cylinder and it's going to put some pressure on the head gaskets, and head studs., and doing this over and over is going to lead to a rash of head gasket failures

@@GRANITEMONUMENT actually its fords fault the 6.0 Powerstroke has too many issues. The 6.0 Powerstroke is a Navistar VT365 with the power cranked up and a few parts ford changed out, that's just it. These engines weren't designed for the power that Ford put them up to. The VT365 does not have that many issues compared to it and it's actually a decent engine
