Diesel TechRon I enjoy your videos I find that watching your videos is a lot easier than the classes I had to thru. I am a mobile diesel mechanic and some of your videos helped me out of jam cause the tech book was pointing in one direction and turned out you had a similar problem and book was totally sending me in the wrong direction. I've worked on diesels for 15 years mainly Caterpillar, Detroit, Cummins mainly 18 wheelers and decided to jump on the band wagon of fixing the 6.0l and 6.4l I started out with a 7.3l in 2000 then in 2004 decided to upgrade with 6.0l truck ran great till 100,050 right after warranty ran out (go figure my luck) when I found out what the price was gonna be to fix it I nearly fell to the floor. The next day I found a 7.3l truck and put it to work. I then took a ford class to learn why these engines cost so much to fix then I realized it was common sense when it came to these motors and you really need a good scan tool to figure these buggars out. so I jumped in head first on my own truck and did all the deletes by the way glad I saw your take on the injectors with the brand and the oil cooler too thanks for the heads up on that. now she's running like I just got her from the dealership brand new even get 5 miles more to the gallon and a lot bigger punch on takeoff now I retired my 7.3l and use it for personal stuff but your right when you had said the 6.0l is a good motor if you do the right repairs on it and buy the parts that are made for. I thank you for all you do on this channel to help people who know alittle mechanics and show them a crash coarse in Ford diesel's. ok now for the question. I'm thinking of adding a new service truck what is your personal opinion on the Ford 6.7l models on my truck it weighs 12,245 full of fuel with my 225lbs and mostly all my tools that's a total weight truck,box,tools ect. I've been a ford guy sense I can remember so I kinda want to stick with em. your opinion means a great deal to me diesel tech to diesel tech should I invest in one or get another 6.0l and fix same way I did the one im driving now thanks bud.

Hey Ron, I had a ford diesel mechanic install a ficm in my 2006 diesel f250. He does not work for ford anymore, so I bought the ficm from ford preprogrammed for him to install. I forgot to tell him it was preprogrammed, so he programmed the ficm. Now when I floor the pedal it feels like it does not accelerate as quickly or smooth as it use to

Heya Ron, almost ordered a replacement from you on my 04, went from driving to dead, sync was 0 and fmp was 0. Battery voltage 13.8. towed back to the driveway and followed the chart testing, found pin 27 had some green stuff on it, cleaned the ficm pins and the connector sockets and it fmp went to 48 and stayed there. Can contact/silicone grease be used on the ficm connectors, mine are not greased in any way. Thanks for all you teach.

Hi Ron, first I'd like to thank you for taking the time to make all these great videos! secondly, I recently took my 05 f250 to a shop and was told 6 out of 8 injectors were failing, plus a bad ficm..running at 44 volts. I plan on checking the ficm myself soon but I was told that if I just changed the ficm, the bad injectors will back feed power back into the ficm burning it up, is this true? Thank you.

I thought I had a bad FICM went out to buy a Dorman FICM. Installed it and no power. I noticed a relay under the driver side fuse box it had come out a bit. Just pushed it back in and I had power again. The old FICM would show an increase then decrease in power key on engine off. I'm really not sure if it was the FICM or relay acting up. I'l see how long this Dorman lasts.

Diesel tech Ron, I have a question. I have a 036.0 diesel and I have had all 8 injectors replaced, hpop, icp, ipr, egr delete and new turbo. Long story short my 6.0 doesn't do the injector buzz when you koeo. And when I crank it, it has a stutter and then opens up. Could you give me any advise? Maybe ficm bad? Thanks.

Just did a motor swap on '05. Engine now has FICM no sync. Used FICM from new motor and PCM from truck which had bad motor. Do these need to be programmed to each other or should I be looking else where. New motor ran before I removed. Both truck were '05's.

Hello Ron, I have a 2006 International 4300 DT466 7.6L truck. In need of a IDM. Found a Cardone replacement Part # 782004F. Cardone website says it is compatible for my truck. Oreyli sais it shows up on their end as a FICM for a 6.0L. Spoke with a rep from Cardone and says I need to flash the FICM with my VIN. Would you know how can I accomplish this? Thank you

I do hundreds of ficms a month. The wrong calibration is noticable but not drastic. Check your cylinder contribution. Icp koeo. Ipr percent and fuel pressure

ron, i have 06 ford 350. Key on FICM volt 44 but after few seconds it will climb to 46 volt, one day all 8 injector throw a circuit low code. FICM is no good??

Hi Ron, I have a 2004 f250 One day I change the oil and fuel filters and then two days I don't think it's the problem but around five days I started it up and I was with my friends and playing around and when I gave it gas it wanted to go and would still move but dosent have the power like before any help?

I've seen fuel pumps get damaged during filter changes. Or fuel filters not sealing properly. You can try redoing your filters with quality ones or install a fuel pressure gauge..

S.O.S. 05 6.0 no start. Ipr 85%, icp 0, sync 1, ficm takes 10 seconds to reach 48 but stays there while cranking. Only stored code is P2623. Barely made it home, ran rough, parked it, now won't start.
