Ford 641 Running a 7ft Flail Mower

Footage from a yearly housing estate brush hogging job. Finally got to use this thing, covered a lot of ground and saved a ton of time that day!

That’s interesting when you started rolling it looked like a tiller but no it’s not! I have never seen any equipment like that before it makes a nice job I would love to see how it works. I love your tractor it runs like a Champ and it has beautiful patina ! You have a beautiful property there it looks peaceful and right out of the rat race! Enjoy every minute 👍

Nope! Just a good ol' flail mower. PTO only operates when the clutch is engaged so once the pedal is let out... Hundred series Fords are good rigs! If only I had that much land, that's a housing complex that I get hired to mow twice a year. Far from out of the rat race believe me... too many people living in one place!

I'm joining the club soon! I just bought some three point stuff from a farmer cleaning house in Southern Wisconsin. He said he'd throw in this cutter he had out by the fence line. From a distance I thought he was wrong and it was a tiller. Sure! I'll take it. Learned what a Mott Flail was that day. Just going over all the parts now to haul it up to our 40 in the U P to cut pasture grass for deer grazing. Nice surprises still happen.

That field looks great!! Good video. We have a Ford 907 6 foot flail hooked up to the mighty Allis Chalmers D17. It cuts great and leaves a beautiful cut just like yours does. Very happy with the attachment.

D series Allis's are neat tractors! I wanted to trade this for a brush hog, but after finally being able to use it here, prefer the cut of a flail over a hog.

@@5Tractorguy Yes, they are neat tractors. I love the power shift. We have an old brush hog and it will get used for mowing brush. The flail will get used for cutting the field. We also prefer the cut quality of the flail mower over the brush hog. The flail also takes up less room in the barn.

Not a bad bad setup. A tip for you after doing your opening cut, run the tractor anti clockwise so that the pulley drive is on the side that you've already cut, that way if you find a stump or knock a tree or a fence you won't wreck the flail mower. Can get expensive 🤬. Mickey in Australia.

That is quite the unit, can't say I've ever seen a flail mower that big. My dad's haybine is a 7' cut and covers a fair amount of field in a day.

Boss had a 600 I ran with a 5ft brush hog and did good. Only down side was the fan sucking air threw the rad. Instead of blowing out. So it plugged and over heated every pass in high grass

Same issue here. Had to stop halfway though the day and clean out the radiator. All the seeds/chaff from the tall grass was getting sucked in.

Not sure... for some reason the serial number on this thing isn't long enough to make the chart. Has to be late 50's early 60's given the production of the 641. Sure wish I knew!

Hey Eric, nope... 30" hog on the Commercial 12. Mulches everything up real nice but takes a heck of a lot longer.

That mower cuts great. Any rocks in that field? Being in the Granite State I cant run a flail, I use a brush hog because I’d destroy a flail lol.

No rocks, but someone left a pile of 2.5 - 3" branches that I found! Make quite the racket. The hog is your best bet... we should all be rock farmers here in NE haha. No shortage.

It's called Mugwort, can be a pretty invasive weed.
