Hello, I have a problem with my Ford Edge 6f50 gearbox. The car lost reverse gear and the gearbox goes into emergency mode. After scanning, P0756 came out: Shift Solenoid B (SSB) Failure. I suspect a solenoid failure. Where to start diagnosing? Will replacing the entire solenoid body be a good solution? Best regards

Hi, great video. I have a 2013 Flex with this 6F50 transmission approaching 200K miles. I had an event after a fuel stop where the vehicle started and took off as usual but wouldn't make the 1 - 2 shift. I stopped immediately and turned off the ignition. Let it sit for a few minutes, restarted, and drove off again and it worked as normal, hence, it was a single event. My thought is this is the beginning of more to come and that the likely cause is a failing shift solenoid, so I looked at your video to see how difficult a valve body replacement would be. I don't want to be left stranded, hence, thinking of proceeding with the replacement. Would you wait or do something else first prior to making this investment?

Hi, if you replace your solenoid pack, also consider replacing your ISS-A and ISS-B speed sensors behind the valve body. Since you don't have fault codes, replacing those + the solenoid pack will ensure a robust repair.

How would someone know for definite diagnosis if its the TCM or the Clutch or bearing or some other issue with the transmission. Have you got any detailed guides on the shudder and what to expect for all thw fault codes

Thanks for the video. Very informative. What do you recommend if the main harness plug release lever breaks part way through the release. 08 edge SEL. Harsh engagement of reverse, only after driving. When stopped for a few seconds no harsh engagement.

I’ve got a 2017 interceptor utility 3.7, it’s got rapid converter clutch cycling through the gears except in 6th. It works normal once in 6. You can feel it and watch the tachometer, it’s in and out every 3-4 seconds, especially annoying 30-35 mph. The fluid didn’t look too bad, changed out 6 quarts, no change. 122,000 miles. No codes, it will shudder some at lower speeds when cycling. Thanks

You can drain and fill it 2 more times then add lubegard shudder fix on the final fill. Then drive it hard for a while to work the additive in

My 3.14 bolts pulled thread on removal. Looks like they were only gripping 3. Do they go into the back plate of the valve body or through into transmission. What's the fix?

Im having an issue where my edge isnt wanting to shift past 2nd or 3rd randomly it finally popped a code p0772 solenoid e stuck trans fluid is full and clean would replacing the valve body be the way to go?

have a P0756, “solenoid B stuck.” have the solenoid body on the bench right now, and all solenoids measure at 4.6 ohms resistance. Will I hurt anything if I try to engage solenoids with alligator clips and a 9 V battery to make sure they’re cycling?

@redduty unfortunately I don't have a 6f50 manual to read, as I don't work there anymore. But if you can see whether source voltage is more then it should be fine. It's also possible it's Mechanically sticking

2010 Flex Ecoboost that started with slight vibration at about 75mph. Recently got a vibration/slight jerking at low RPM, 2nd-3rd around 30mph. Also around that speed and gear with light acceleration I see the RPM jump up and down 200-300. Don’t really feel it on heavier acceleration and no CEL or codes? Think this service will help or look elsewhere?

I have an 2008 Mercury Sable with the 6F50 transmission. It sat around for about 3 weeks for some body work to be performed. I drove it home last night and it started “high revving” before shifting from 3/4 and 4/5. If I replace the solenoid pack, what else should I consider replacing while I have the cover off ? ( disclaimer, 177,000 miles. Owned since 48,000 miles. I replace the fluid every 30,000)

@kennethmartin436 hi, since it's high revving, that can point to more internal damage. You can do an odor test of the fluid to see if it's burnt. If it's OK you can try replacing the solenoid pack and the speed sensors inside there behind the valve body

Is there anything on the old solenoid body that has the shift strategy? I replaced my PCM and I forgot to get the shift strategy that was programmed into the old one with my scan tool. All the tags on the outside of the transmission are no longer visible. I need the correct strategy to program into the new PCM.

@@BigBensCarsAndCycles Damn you weren't kidding when you said in this video that you reply fast. I no longer have the old PCM. Is the strategy stamped on the solenoid body? I guess worse comes to worse I can just install a new solenoid body which will have a strategy sticker with it. May be headed in that direction anyways. Every once and a while this thing shifts so hard that it feels like the engine is gonna fall out.

Any tips for working the transmission cover off and on? The turbo/intercooler (I think?) pipe keeps getting in my way, took me a long time to take all the bolts off with just a ratchet and afterwards it kept getting stuck behind the pipe, hopefully looking to speed up the process of torquing it back on. It's on an Explorer so it could possibly be slightly different but the layout looks basically the same as in the vid

I have a 2011 ford taurus that I had the pcm replaced with a used one and it was reprogrammed to match the VIN. Do the Valve body have to be reprogrammed to? The old pcm had the 2.77 ratio I had to change it to 3.17

Yeah, I'm fairly certain on a 2011 you'll need to program the strategy. There's a sticker on top of the transmission with the strategy and solenoid id

@221ccl2 hi, I would also closely inspect for damage to the transmission harness along the front of the transmission (by the valve body cover) sometimes the wires rub on the cover studs

Hello! I have a 14 Taurus that I think may have this issue. How did you determine this was the issue rather than a bad Torque converter or other trans issue? We're there any codes thrown for this issue?

Hi! There were no codes. The delay occurred during shifts. If the torque converter were shuddering, that would have pointed me in that direction. That would feel more like jerkiness.

@infinitewho Since it's delayed when shifting its most likely a solenoid pack issue, definitely worth replacing. You'll need to program the new strategy with forscan and reset adaptive tables. And you're very welcome!

Appreciate that buddy, I had a code on these recently P090C, the mechanic was adamant it was the clutch, so we opened it and found that one of the forks were broken. After replacing a new clutch from Lux, we now are getting the sensor issue on clutch b and no reverse still

Yes. If you have loss of engagement though,2016s also had an issue with the direct clutch hub losing it's snap ring. loss of reverse, 3rd and 5th
