Shop said the tranny has to reprogram itself. Also he said they had to download software for the new leadframe. Truck only has 92k 2013, and he said drive over 100 miles it’ll correct itself. I just did my lead frame on Tuesday using this video. Prior to this the most comlicated thing I have ever done on my vehicles was replacing a starter and changing oiol. It was terrifying...but this video is amazing. Quick tip - after finishing I went to crank it up and it did not start. I did not turn the plug in the back of the transmission all the way (nearly 90 degrees pointing down, I had it at about 30). Once I fixed the plug I was able to start it and clear the codes. DOne on a 2013 f150, 84000 miles. Now if only I could figure out why my o2 sensor is still showing rich to lean after I replaced all 4. Great video!!

I’m a former Ford mechanic (diesel driveability mostly) and I really think this might be one of the best instructional videos I’ve seen on university of KZbin. Good job telling folks to torque their valve body. Seen a few internal pressure leaks in the past from over torqued valve body bolts messing up the gaskets.

@venivinivinci5 ай бұрын
I'm thinking the same thing!!!!
@azjohn5205 ай бұрын
@@TinaMucklow as already mentioned, this procedure doesn’t require a module (re)program, but several others may. It’ll depend on what module it is and where you order it from. Some modules require the parts department enter VIN information so that the correct programming can be flashed to it, others may come blank. There are exceptions to what I’m about to say, but by and large module programming should not be done by a DIYer, mostly because the majority of scan tools won’t do it and there is a lot that can go wrong that can brick the module. If you manage to get past all that, the best you can do as a non-dealer mechanic is “suck” the old part’s module software out and “spit” it back in to the new part’s module.

Great video, really helped me out. My 2012 F150 was failing so I tackled this project over the weekend. 163K miles. Couple tips for others. The OEM lead frame was available from my local dealer but stock is limited. They wanted my VIN to order another one from Ford. No reprogramming required. All the online stores don't have them available. The bulkhead adapter was stuck, I pulled it out with a pliers, so make sure you get a new one. Took about 9 quarts to refill. Took about 4 or 5 hours but I was really taking my time with torque sequence and letting everything drain good.

Very detailed explanation with one exception: Didn't show installing the connector hub back into the transmission. Also, grease on that plunger didn't hold it for long, so instead I used a piece of wire attached to the nearest pan screw threaded holes and bended it accordingly to temporarily hold that plunger in place while the valve body was in place with a single loose screw. Then moved the wire out and done deal!

The two hardest parts of this for me was getting the bulkhead connector off(there is no room with heat shields everywhere) and filling it back up with fluid( you need a pump and the exhaust manifold is inches away which makes this very difficult, again no room). I did end up splashing myself in the face when dropping the pan. The parts were a little over a hundred dollars and the transmission fluid was about $50. Again thank you for an easy to follow video.

That locking tab on the lead frame (for the bulkhead sleeve), is designed to NOT go up until the sleeve is fully installed. I believe your description is misleading about making sure it moves up and down before installing. If it’s fighting you that is a good thing; it’s preventing you from locking it in without a properly installed bulkhead sleeve. If you really want to test before installation, you can put the bulkhead sleeve into the lead frame then move the locking tab up and down.

The Ford transmission gasket is reusable and shouldn't be thrown away. Did you notice that it wasn't leaking anywhere before you started? Did you also notice that there wasn't any gasket sealer on there that you had to clean up from the mating surfaces? You should reuse the original gasket because the ones included with filters are inferior, and you should reuse unless it's damaged in some way. Others in this post have already spoke to "stuck connector lock", as it's operating as designed.

Hello I just did this for my 2013 F-150. Once I finished everything I put the key on the ignition but it wouldn't let me start, after a closer look the gear selector is on P but the screen or computer says it's on gear "1" or first gear basically. Any idea what I did wrong?
@BigBensCarsAndCycles7 ай бұрын
I think you didn't line up the range sensor with the manual lever. The range sensor is on the leadframe

What’s the torque and tightening sequence for the lead frame to valve body bolts and the transmission pan bolts? I have a 2012 F-150 3.5L

i did this repair myself, and after, everything seemed fine. but now once i get going down the road, around 60mph, my speedometer will drop to 0, not move, and my mileage will also disappear and show lines. any clues to what i may have missed in the reinstallation?

@@BigBensCarsAndCycles so i finally got under it again today. there was a small 2" hose wedged in where the manual valve was. i assume that was the problem, but the next big question is. where in gods green earth did it come from?? i cant seem to find a spot for it, and highly doubt i accidently put it in there.

When I pulled out the lead frame connector the lead frame sleeve didn't come with it. I couldn't pull out the valve body and I'm thinking it's because of that. Any tips for how to get that out? I tried reconnecting the connector and starting over but it doesn't wanna give.
@BigBensCarsAndCycles7 ай бұрын
did you pull the release lever down? of so put the connector half way on and use the lever handle as leverage
@mikeoshea40887 ай бұрын
I almost gave up too, takes an uncomfortable amount of force to remove. Use a long flat head screw driver putting the tip underneath the threaded part of connector and the middle of screw driver pivoting/prying off exhaust. Use the same method to reinstall expect pivoting tip of screwdriver on the end of the connector sleeve instead of threads. Put vasoline on seal part of bulk head to assist install.
@mikeoshea40887 ай бұрын
This is obviously after doing the stated above (lower the release lever all the way down)
@SoapeJ7 ай бұрын
@@mikeoshea4088 It ended up giving - I just needed to find a more aggressive angle of attack. Glad it didn't break like the screw did when putting the tranny pan back on!

That will require programming the new solenoid strategy using forscan

on a 2010, the TCM is built into the leadframe, and serviced by replacing the whole valve body
