Tim used the main jet adjustment to keep fuel from varnishing up the carb when the tractor wasn't in use.. Smart man😊😊😊. I bet he did that every time he left it parked.👍👍👍💯

AN easy way to tell if you have positive or negative ground is to look at the coil wires. Negative ground will have the wire to the distributor on the negative terminal. Positive ground will be the opposite.

Love the sound of a old Ford tractor. Solid and dependable, do just about any thing. Snaking logs is very dangerous and you are right on with what you said about snaking logs, you want the chain as low as possible from the tractor. Wish I had money to get me one. Stay safe!

Be careful with the lift arms as well....I had a 8N and in the bitter cold they snapped since they are cast iron. They actually sold replacement non cast steel ones. Loved mine and used it for years....its with my neighbor now as a lawn ornament but ran fine when I gave it to him. The engine and front end were all rebuilt. Great vid.

It's about 12° here too. Celsius, though, and that's plenty cold enough for me... Enjoyed that, fellers. 🇬🇧👍

Much enjoyed. Sitting on the fender of the 8N in my profile when I was 6. The loader arm crushed my left foot against the axle. It still hurts.

Great video. This tractor looks in really good condition.
@jimthode9 ай бұрын
At 38:10 Actually anyplace you pull from above the ground level tends to lighten the front end. The higher you pull from, the more it tends to raise the front end. The axle height (wheel line) has nothing to do with it.

That distributor placement does suck severely. However in Henrys defense that engine wasn't made for that tractor. It was used in trucks first. Which would be far easier work on.

The old Ford is a 2N. The 9N rear hubs were smooth in the center and had H shaped radial arms supporting the front axle. The 2N has the rivets in the center rear hubs and the radial arms in front were hillow oval shaped just like the 8N. Both the 9N and 2N were 3 forward gears and 1 reverse. Some, like yours, had an over and under addition. This is the arm on the left side that steps every gear higher and lower. This made a whine that was very irrating. The 8N rear hub was smaller and has 4 forward and reverse. The 9N was produced from 1939 thru 1941. The 2N was produced from 1942 thru 1947. The 8N from 1948 thru 1952. The 8N had a front distributor location on the front of the engine from 1948 to 1950. The 1951 and 52 years had it located on the right side of the engine.
@donbaker97159 ай бұрын
Also the 9N and 2N tractors were all grey from the factory. The 8N was the first one with the red/grey paint. Your tractor has been repainted the 8N pattern.
@LHarry-c2t8 ай бұрын
Thank you, I knew the 8N had the small or "Regular" wheel patterns on the wheels and side mount distributor. Because that's what was on the one we had but then I have seen front distributor parts for 8N and was confused. Makes sense now that it was a running change on the same model.

A 9 N has a 3 speed and a Reverse 8 N's usually have a a 4 speed and Reverse.
@LHarry-c2t8 ай бұрын
The 8Ns also moved the distributor to the side of the engine. At least the late ones. I've driven one of those hundreds if not thousands of miles around and around hay fields all over my county starting at about age 10. Can't say I miss the heat and hornets much but definitely miss my grandpaw, dad and me working together and eating lunch under a shade tree listening to Paul Harvey on the truck radio. That simple time in my life was so glorious and I didn't even know it.

Wheel bolt pattern indicates it’s either 2N or 9N. 8N bolt pattern is smaller.
@LHarry-c2t8 ай бұрын
Definitely . Seems like maybe the foot boards on the 2N. I know the 9N didn't come with those. Maybe brake pedals both on the right for the 2N also. That might have waited till the 8N though. Can't remember for sure on that.

Nope. My dad used to use a dollar bill to clean points all the time when I was a kid. And a dollar bill isn’t near thick enough to set points. You use a business card to set points.

I hope you turned the gaa off on the tank and run the tractor till it stops that way there's no gas in the carburetor that way it don't gums up the carburetor that way when you go to start it next time it will run ethanol in gasoline now days it don't last and it bad on your carbs

More hours spent with the Fumble and Bumble twins! It appears identical in all respects to my 8N. Would it bankrupt you to treat it to a few shots of starting fluid? Just asking!
@LHarry-c2t8 ай бұрын
Starting fluid wasn't going to open the main fuel jet that was screwed closed. Also your 8N won't have those big bolt pattern wheels if it is truly an 8N. It will be the smaller more common ones.

Love the show. But for your uncle, sorry that he passed. but he does not know anything happening under the sun. Once we die, we are asleep till Jesus returns. don't be deceived by these false religions. Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 King James Version 5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. The dead are asleep. not in heaven. not in no purgatory but asleep. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 King James Version 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. And there is no rapture but 2 resurrections. Revelation 20:4-5 King James Version 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Revelation 20:5-11 King James Version 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. One more thing no one goes to heaven but heaven comes to earth. Revelation 21:1-3 King James Version 21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. I just wanted to share the truth. don't be deceived by world religions which are all false. and trust in the word of God. for God dwells in no temple but in us all. for we are no longer under the law but in Jesus Grace. Acts 17:24-28 King James Version 24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. God does not dwell in any men made church. Again, I just wanted to share the truth.
