Some things to be aware of . . . I had left my 2013 Ford Edge sit for about a month, and its battery was "dead!" Initally I hooked up my battery jumper pack (GB40) and was stymied! I couldn't get it to work, no clicking, no dome light, no nothing, even though I knew the jumper pack was fully charged. So, after reviewing the instructions (always a good idea) I was made aware of a few things. 1) You should hook it up first before turning it on, 2) if the battery is too low, the jumper pack won't see it as connected to anything and won't turn on, at which point you will need to go into "boost" (what the GB's call it) or over-ride mode, which disables the (polarity) safety logic among other things - so make sure it is hooked up properly, 3) yes, they say red to red (+ to +) on the battery terminal but black (-) to a ground point on the car body, I always thought this was to move any potential sparks away from the batter/hydrogen source, but maybe the battey management sensor (usually hooked to the battery's negative terminal) is more sensitive, and 4) in the case of a very dead battery, once the jumper pack is hooked up and the boost mode is on, give it some time, 10-30 seconds (?) for the vehicle to wake up. (Noted on my Edge by the dash lighting up.) The last might just be coincidence, but all of that is what I actually went through. If the vehicle starts and all your radio chanels are reset to default, that means your battery was VERY dead, so perhaps it's time to look at getting a new battery installed. Otherwise it might need a long drive to fully recharge the battery. (In a different/older car, (with less parasitic drains) it took a couple of jumps (on shorter drives) until the battery was capable of routinely starting the vehicle again. But it was never so dead that the jumper pack couldn't "see" it.)

I'm having the same issue, 2013 Ford fusion. However we replaced the battery in 2016. And the battery is still under warranty. I call the Ford dealership I go to and they said they would replace it at no cost if the battery is indeed the issue. Quick side note, the Ford batteries usually have a seven year warranty, so if you need to have one replaced, check the age of the battery.

The Ford's have a battery monitoring system that has to be reset after a battery change or problem. You have to go to someone with a diagnostic machine of some form to reset it. You will have problems until you reset it.

Everyone saying disconnect the positive terminal make sure your battery is fully charged. Won’t work if you drained your battery and so you get that message until you’ve charged your battery.

Had the same issue with 2014 ford taurus mechanic looked at ignition switch and found it had a short after problem was solved I got message that was similar on screen. Turned out battery was low on voltage and needed to be replaced after I replaced battery all was good.

Sorry for the late response but no I did not buy a new battery. It could be that the battery needs to be replaced. Take it to Autozone and they will check the battery for free to see if it is the battery.

I had the same problem, the ford dealership told me my battery was fine. a few weeks later, my car died and wouldn't start. I had to get a tow truck to jump start my car, then I took my car back to the dealership so they can explain to me why I kept getting the message.. all they did was run a diagnostic and tell me that the battery is fine again.. I told them then whats causing my car die and why do I keep getting that message then??? I finally had to call A Electrical Auto Repair Shop, they said there are 2 batteries in the car, that message means the smaller 12 volt battery is about to die. why couldn't the ford dealership tell me or figure out that if there the specialist smh

I used another car to jump my 2020 fusion twice due to the System Off To Save Battery, it’ll bring it back but once I turn it off, it won’t come back on. There’s a recall for it now for EVs

I've had my car for a few months and only has 3k miles on it and starting to see this message. Not understanding is this a regular normal battery preservation feature or is this an indicator of a problem? also not understanding what the message mean Please turn off ignition or start engine mean? I haven't even turned on the car and am seeing this message on the display screen. How can I turn off ignition if its not even on?

I have only seen that message by entering the car and not starting as well. When I spoke to ford I was told that the battery is trying to protect it self from waisting energy or it could mean that the battery needs a charge. Try taking it to an AutoZone and try have have them test it and charge it if it is actually dying. I took my battery to them once and they tested and charged it for me free if charge. I hoe this information helps you.

Follow the procedure like you are going to jump the vehicle. Use a jump started or get someone to help you.

Tried jump starting it but it does not do anything like the battery seems to be dead. Battery is brand new it was replaced in the dealership last week for the same issue.

@@umeshottie yes i did and it was a parasitic drain from my allstate plug in that monitors my driving to get discount for my insurance. But with this recurring issue, I traded it in ASAP to toyota rav4. Never ever again Ford! No wonder they call it Found On Road Dead! Get rid of it and Escape from that car ASAP! Happy holidays! 🤣

Too much computerized junk on cars now. What its telling you is that your battery is getting weak. The computer is monitoring the charging system, and it needs too much power to maintain charge. The computer is shutting down unnecesary equipment. You can reboot your charging system real easy if you have push button start. Put the vehicle in accessory mode by pushing the start button without stepping on the brake. When in accessory mode flash the bright lights (pull the lever toward you) 5 times and then step on the brake 3 times. The battery light in the dash will flash in the dash about 4 or 5 times and then go steady, resetting your charging system. This might work, but you more than likely need a new battery. During pin point test noticed Rear view camera connector got sulphation, after removed connector the drain is within the specification. Cleaned the connector and re fixed This Report from ford Explorer and the problem solved

Hey check your fuses and if they are good it could very well be your starter. That is just my thoughts. I am sorry I couldn’t help anymore than that.

I just had this happen on my Lincoln MKX, basically same as ford edge. I just put the red on red and the black on the negative battery post. it started right away. however after that it continued with the message when i restarted the car and then the dashboard went blank and rebooted while driving. i am suspecting bad battery and is at dealer now :(

Dana Kelly You can (at least I did the other day after sitting too long with accessory mode on. It started slow, but I got it. Don’t know why Ford put this message as it’s misleading. If they want to “save the battery” then make it come up sooner so people can react. Especially on Titanium’s etc with push button as soon as you hit button to go into Acc it turns all the lights on (headlights, fogs) etc. In acc they should stay off until you start the car. Sometimes with Ford I’m like smh
