The Ford Bronco is a model line of sport utility vehicles manufactured and marketed by Ford. The first SUV model developed by the company, five generations of the Bronco were sold from the 1966 to 1996 model years; a sixth generation of the model line is an upcoming vehicle to be sold for the 2021 model year.[1] The nameplate has been used on other Ford SUVs, including the 1984-1990 Ford Bronco II compact SUV and the Ford Bronco Sport compact CUV.
Originally developed as a compact off-road vehicle using its own chassis,[2] the Bronco initially competed against the Jeep CJ-5 and International Harvester Scout. For 1978, Ford enlarged the Bronco, making it a short-wheelbase version of the F-Series pickup truck; the full-size Bronco competed against the Chevrolet K5 Blazer and Dodge Ramcharger.
Following a decline in demand for large two-door SUVs, Ford discontinued the Bronco after the 1996 model year, replacing it with the four-door Ford Expedition (and the larger Ford Excursion). After a 25-year hiatus, the sixth-generation Bronco is a mid-size SUV for the first time, competing directly against the Jeep Wrangler as both a two-door and a four-door convertible.
From 1965 to 1996, the Ford Bronco was manufactured by Ford at its Michigan Truck Plant in Wayne, Michigan, where it will also manufacture the sixth-generation version.
The idea behind the Bronco began with Ford product manager Donald N. Frey in the early 1960s (who also conceived the Ford Mustang) and engineered by Ford engineer Paul G. Axelrad, with Lee Iacocca approving the final model for production in February 1964, after the first clay models were built in mid-1963. Developed as an off-road vehicle (ORV), the Bronco was intended as a competitor for the Jeep CJ-5, International Harvester Scout and Toyota Land Cruiser. Today a compact SUV in terms of size, Ford marketing shows a very early example of promoting a civilian off-roader as a "Sports Utility" (the two-door pickup version).[9][10]
Initially selling well, following the introduction of the Chevrolet Blazer, Jeep Cherokee, and International Scout II (from 1969 to 1974), demand shifted towards SUVs with better on-road capability, leading to a decline in demand for the Bronco.
A dune buggy - also known as a beach buggy - is a recreational motor vehicle with large wheels, and wide tires, designed for use on sand dunes, beaches, roads or desert recreation.
The design is usually a roofless vehicle with a rear-mounted engine. A dune buggy can be created by modifying an existing vehicle or custom-building a new vehicle.
A sandrail is a lightweight vehicle similar to a dune buggy, but designed specifically for operation on open sand.
Sandrails are usually built as a spaceframe by welding steel tubes together.[8][9] The name sandrail is due to the frame "rails" present. The advantage of this method is that the fabricator can change fundamental parts of the vehicle (usually the suspension and addition of a built-in roll cage). Sandrails, as per dune buggies, often have the engine located behind the driver. Sizes can vary from a small-engine one-seat size to four-seat vehicles with eight or more cylinders.[10]
Dune buggies are recreational vehicles that are used in difficult terrain like dirt, sand gravel and it has more engine power and lighter frame to increase the power to weight ratio where as sandrails are made from existing vehicles, typically you wont find windows doors or even body panel on sand rail. Here is an image of 2000cc Modern Dune Buggy named Desert Fox.
A similar, more recent generation of off-road vehicle, often similar in appearance to a sandrail, but designed for a different use, is the "off road go-kart". The difference may be little more than fitting all-terrain tires instead of sand tires and the much smaller size of the engine.

You are so right, 1984 was when everything good happened!!! I graduated highschool in 1984 and my Hobie 16 was built in July of 1984!!! I'm an old fart as well at 55 years old but I'm forever young!!! This was a really cool build. I too had a first R/C car, heck I still have the thing, a Nikko Magnum, and it does have that buggy shape, so cool and so much fun to play with. Good job on the build and the Revell products seem to be pretty nice, gonna have to pick up some of that glue. To get into tight spots, I put a dab of glue on a toothpick but I wouldn't have to do that anymore with that bottle of glue.

Beautifully built. The early AMT kit was that quality. As kids we built what we had. These days at 61 i enjoy building these much more tha modern or retooled kits. Also even with its chassis, and interior misgivings the kit is packed full of options. Its much better than the curbsides offered now.

I love the Revell paints. I work with the aqua color and enamel ones for 5 years now and I'm really digging the coverage of the enamel ones, some of the aqua color ones are a bit difficult but I guess that is the case with most water based ones. I mostly had difficults with the coverage of the aqua color gold and brass etc. but that's the same with Vallejo and Citadel, there I use the enamel ones

wow that dune buggy is a blast from the past. Had that back in the 80s. IIRC it came with a trailer and chevy pick up. Also had the combo kits with the pick up and Motorcycles and mini bikes. Remember them having are tires, but they were hard plastic and came in halves that snapped together with prepainted white letters.

Correct, all paints should be shaken well. See my video on my custom paint shaker, it does an amazing job for pennies.

I've always used this revell glue .. the only thing I dont like about it is when the tiny straw blocks up. Then I have to find something to unblock it.

@@alancolenso1254 that's a good idea.. ive had the blockage further down.. had to get a strand of copper wire and push it all the way through.. I work on car electrics so the copper wire is easy to get.. but your pin idea is great

I live in the sticks of far western Ky we have to drive at least 30 miles to a hobby lobby to get any model related products and really our only choice I know except for a hobby shop that’s 3 hours away I drove to the hobby lobby all excited to get some new stuff and replace some that I had used and the shelves were bare they haven’t gotten anything in and marked all the old down to clearance to make room for the newer product and it’s never shown up I’m trying to decide to use what I got or change hobbies for awhile kinda sad shape the model car hobby is in now I’m having to wait on eBay and Amazon for parts and tools and even kits now even our local Walmart spray paint is almost completely empty I can’t even find krylon and rustoleon paint or primer my other hobby is guns and now that we have ammo and weapons overflowing the shelves may go back to shoooting even my wife shared the shooting hobby with me

I Wonder if a regular 1/25 scale model car would fit on the trailer instead of the done buggy ?
