I got my VIN this past week too! Now I’m re-prioritizing my Bronco aftermarket purchase list and the compressor is (still) right at the top. Man, the stars really aligned for TrailRecon to drop this compressor install video. Perfect timing!

An air-up hint is having the ARB switch in the cab so when you're airing up, just look at the tire pressure monitoring page and turn off the ARB when it hits the right number. I use a SpeedFlate two-way air system so it's nice having all 4 tires equalized and the perfect pressure (nice for airing down too). My ARB is mounted in the same spot on my Bronco. Perfect spot! Great vid :-)

Why not hook it up to one of the Bronco’s pre-wired auxiliary switches? Was there not an option for that, or did you just think the switch being on the compressor would be more convenient?

I mounted mine inside the rear hatch area. The underhood area is exposed to too much water. You have to either buy the remote filter kit and move them inside or risk getting water inside the filter. The air box for the truck is designed so you cant get water inside if you dont go too fast. Im waiting on my snorkel but have relocated my exhaust, the rear end and transmission vents. Still need to source a sealed alternator. We get lots of flooding in my area and i run trails that require river crossings. One trail is submerged to the hood all the way for almost a mile.

Brad, For the filters, no need to replace them. Just pop the cap off the plastic housing and remove the brass or bronze, not sure exactly the material, filter media and wash it out. Then just let it dry and reinstall.

Beat me to it. JIC fittings don’t need tape.
@AV8R_12 жыл бұрын
@@buckswindle many people on here may not know this much about air fittings and parts. Myself included. I have always used PTFE tape on all hose fittings. Why do some need tape and others don’t?
@buckswindle2 жыл бұрын
@@AV8R_1 Tapered threads (NPT BSP) rely on the interference fit of the threads to provide sealing. With these fittings you need tape or dope to lubricate the threads and prevent galling and to help seal any imperfections in the thread seal. Flared fittings (JIC etc.) rely on the contact between the two flared faces to provide the seal. The threads just provide clamping force and don’t provide any sealing. Straight threads (SAE etc.) will use an o-ring or washer to provide sealing.

Question: When I looked at the install instructions from ARB, it says that there is a non optional step when it comes to wiring the switch. This is what it says: "Locate an ignition/ACC power circuit, minimum 8 amps, using a multimeter. This circuit must only be live when the vehicle ignition key is in either the ‘ACC’ position or in the ‘ON’ position. Connect the red/yellow wire to this circuit using a method of your choice. " I did not see you do that in your video, I was wondering how you got it to work?

Why are there so many comments recommending power tanks? They're bulky and would take up a decent amount of cargo space that you could be using for other things, compared to a compressor mounted in the engine bay. On top of the hassle of having to refill them.

I would be concerned about having the PCM mounted where there will be so much vibration. Vibration will kill those circuit boards over time.

This may work out fine, but… Here’s my issues: 1) Mounting that to the computer is a TERRIBLE idea and will DEFINITELY void the warranty on the computer if it were to fail. 2/3) The intake being upright seems like a good way to get water in the compressor, same with the chuck. I’d try to find a silicone cap for the chuck and maybe put the plugs back in instead of the filters since it only takes a second to change them out. Other than that, seems pretty cool. I love my ARB Twin compressor. I don’t have a Bronco, but it’s nice to see stuff starting to hit the market for them!!!

I’m not sure i would want to mount the brains of an electronically controlled machine, that could have me miles away from civilization, to be mounted to something that can vibrate. I don’t know what the frequency of the arb is, but given that a Janet Jackson song can crash a computer I wouldn’t risk it.

The situation under the bronco hood is like looking a a bowl of spaghetti! All those plastic fitting hoses are going to be a nightmare after ten years. Perfect solution is a power tank that you can take with whatever vehicle you're taking. Those ARB compressors are overpriced and underbuilt IMHO. Plus they're slow.
