I got a problem with the battery pack it won't go pull charge so what I need to do buy a new set of batteries replacement on this vehicle I only got about 12 voltage charge not the whole charge

Thank you for this video. It removed a lot of the unknowns for me. I was able to swap out the battery in my 2017 C-Max Energi in almost exactly 27 minutes yesterday, including putting the tools away. Yes, a bit of a pain taking the ductwork out, but if you just get to work and do the work, you'll be done and can mark that task off your list. Next! The hardest part is removing that one push clip out from under the first duct piece. If I ever have to do it again, I will just put the panel puller tool behind the stacked mount tabs of the the duct pieces and force the clip out that way. It is almost impossible to do the two stage correct method from underneath were you can't really see. After that, just undo the negative and positive terminals from the battery and move the whole terminal blocks out of the way.. There is no need to remove the individual cables from the larger terminal blocks.

If the battery is out DO NOT CLOSE THE REAR HATCH. The hatch release is electronically controlled and there is no way to manually open it. I was making this repair in my driveway. Had the battery completely removed and closed the hatch before I went to the auto parts store. Now I guess I'll be climbing through the rear to get the new battery in...

@@mattbvii if there is no battery connected in the back of the car then those terminals under the hood are useless. You can put a power source to them but the power isn't going anywhere.

You forgot to reset the battery timer. Ford changes the way it charges the battery over time. It counts how much power goes in and out of the battery and over time it charges the battery less and less (reducing the capacity of the battery and ensuring the battery fails). If you don’t reset the timer the car will not charge the battery completely and the battery will fail sooner. Don’t be surprised if that battery goes bad in 2 years!

@@sarahrae8745 you can do in FORScan on a laptop with a USB multi speed adapter. The cable FORScan specifically recommends the OBDLink EX FORScan OBD Adapter. Which is $60 on Amazon. If you don’t feel comfortable mucking about in FORScan then just pay the dealer. They shouldn’t charge more than an hour because it will take 10 minutes or less.

I'm going to try this on my C-Max but I'm also gonna post this comment in case anyone can help! So for the last three years that I've had my C-Max, I've had to replace my battery constantly (I've bought three of them and it's about once every year). Every time, before I replace the battery, it always dies completely. There's been a few times where I caught it early enough that I was able to revive it. Other times, I've been fighting with it to get to work and have had to get it towed. This last time, I had to get it towed and taken to a dealership. The dealership spent several hours diagnosing it and then charged me over two hundred and fifty dollars for a battery module without calling about it. Since my car turned on and they assured me it would last for awhile, I bit the bullet and paid for it. It's been less than a month and my car is completely dead again. I'm not sure what to do or how to even jump start it when the last time I did that, it didn't work at all. Do you have any suggestions that I maybe haven't tried? Or is this more of a "you got a crappy car and just get a new one" situation?

There is an issue with Sync systems in these cars. On rare occasions, the sync2 system appears to lock up. When that happens the sync2 system can't shut itself down even though you turn off the car. Whenever this happened to me, it would draw the 12v battery so low, the car would not start. Jumping the car fixed the starting problem and it also causes the sync2 system to reboot, basically fixing the locked up sync2. But that cycle of draining the battery so low on multiple occasions, ultimately damages the battery so it can't maintain full voltage. The next time I find my sync is frozen, I plan to either pull the appropriate fuse or disconnect the battery long enough to power down the sync2. As info, you can jump start the car from under the front hood. You need to locate the 12v connection. Mine is on the right front side of the engine bay. It has a red plastic cover over the copper positive lead. There is a negative ground just to left of that, if you look down toward the frame member. It looks like a post just sticking up about 6 inches off the frame. You can also use those connections to charge the 12v battery.

Same thing working in a machine shop. You just don't wear stuff that gets in your way or that could get tangled up with the machinery.

Whoever owns that car is probably replacing that battery right about now lol. I heard they last 1-3 years if you don’t reset the monitor/battery destroyer. It’s totally bullshit that it even exists in my opinion. I’ve seen AGM batteries last a decade. No reason to force them to fail in 5 years.

Question? This morning after charging plug in battery on 2013 c max energi over night there was a sulfur smell. The little I have read in forums states it could be coming from the 12V battery? Have you heard or experienced this? Could it be hydrogen sulfide coming from 12V battery from it heating up when charging EV battery overnight? Thanks

Thanks for nice video. I am getting system off to save battery kind of message when starting. 2013 Model so it is 8 years old so I think time to change battery. Can we test out before connecting duct work in last step ? Any idea ?

The engineers who design these types of cars should be required to work on them after they are done with the designs. I can guarantee they would be designed much differently. This is an absolute joke.

You should be more careful. Take off your rings and metal watch bands. Cover the battery with a rag when getting the plastic pieces out of the way. Take more care with your open end wrenches not the bridge the positive and negative terminals of the battery. I could easily see something going badly wrong on your videos. Also you did not show that you reattached the vent tube at the front of the battery.

A few tips for doing instructional videos: 1. Use a narrator who speaks the language as a native. 2. Have someone who's actually done the procedure before do the video. 3. Don't wear clunky jewelry while working on mechanical parts.
