I had a Capri mk3 with a 2.1 Burton race engine 210 bhp at the back wheels and non powered steering as a road car. Your statement pretty much sums it up. A handful when you give it a footfull. Greg W

Believe it or not my first car in 1980 i just past my test at 17 was a mk1 1971 3 litre e Capri ( YLG 113J ) my big bro had 3 litre capris from when I was 12 I’ve had and owned 11 in my lifetime only V6s always 3 litre only one have couldn’t afford an RS 3100 but a mate Dave Price did have one 1974 mint I fell in love with it passed it every day on me way school , I’m now 61 the best car Ford made arse out foot down brilliant memories . Der beste Renntourenwagen seiner Zeit . Mit dem umstieg von Weslake zu Cosworth war der Capri RS 1974/75 beinahe Unschlagbar. 415PS aus 3,4 liter Hubraum bei 1070 KG sind auch heute noch beeindruckend.

Thats right they all did that one wheel off the ground depending how you was driving .this capri is just mint i was ten when my big bro had his mrk1 V4 all done out in gray primer as it had different doors boot lid so it was a cheap way to hide it all i spent lots of time just in that back seat rolling around lol .that molding all the way down the car i loved that run my finger down it all day .

I had one! 253, 302,308 no probs. Couldnt hang with 351,s but! . Got some brand new bf, goodrich ta,s fitted once, one week later went back to the store with shimmy probs, both fronts were delamiated and no longer round. Tyre store employee, "how fast were you going?!" Me, "err"

@@rhett7716 probably should mention this was western qld and any friendly competition was waaaaaay more than a qtr mile, the big cars could initially gap me but couldnt stay there in top gear. Never did come up against a xu1 or v8 torana, would have liked to compare xu1, all the v8,s locally were kingswoods or falcons. Weight and aero wasnt on the side of hx holdens! Even if it had "gts" badges.

That thing has so much torque, I was surprised to see him changing up to second gear when he was hardly moving. Did he actually have that thing over half throttle at all? Which engine was this? The "V6-cosworth - no turbo" as fitted to the Group-B metro 6R4; or the twin-turbo version, as fitted to the jaguar XJ220? My pick is the XJ220 motor. THis thing has power to spare.

Quad cam v6..based on the 3ltr Essex v6...Iron block...cosworth design top end...lucas fuel injection...420bhp approx...designed and built in the early 1970s by Keith duckworth and Mike costin....no relation to the metro 6r4 engine..which owed its roots to the buick/ rover v8... made into a v6 also with quad cams....and nothing to do with the xj220 motor...

The gaa..isnt really a road engine ...you could always try using the 24v 2.9 BOA or BOB v6 from a early ford granada Scorpio.....in standard form they were mainly a bit of a cruiser..195bhp for the boa..210bhp for the Bob....if your pockets are deep enough ..you can crank some serious power from this mill......Good luck 😊
