Just a couple tips, if you’re doing brakes you should always lube the caliper slide pins and the new hardware where the brake pads sit in. I also always put some lube on the back of the pads where the contact and the caliper pistons. Keeps the brakes quiet and smooth. Also you should always spray new rotors with brake cleaner before using them. They come coated in an thin layer of oil to stop flash rusting and the oil will burn off, but it’s not the best idea to get it burned into your new pads. Clean Vic BTW. Keep it nice bro!

A lot of rotors now come sealed in a plastic bag instead of being coated. But definitely if not, spray them down.

@@RodknockRhett I just did a brake job on my Grand Marquis, and they came covered in oil, and a bag. I guess better safe than sorry

@@ImAuzi spend a little more on pads and rotors. My Wagner pads come completely dry and sealed up. My MasterCraft rotors do as well. There shouldn't be anything on the new stuff is it's sealed. If there is, the manufacturer didn't do their research and development.

C clamp works well pushing the caliper in too. Just turn one of the old pad around and press both back at the same time. 👍🏼

What a sweet tool to compress the caliper. I usually use one of the old pads and a c clamp

Spray your rotors with brake cleaner and wipe them. You should use a flat head screw driver to release the emergency brake shoes in the rear and re-adjust them after the new rotors are put in place. Otherwise you have a great fun and informative video here.

03-11 Panther platform Ford's, in rust belt. Make sure that thin rotor splash shield isn't scraping, bolt holes wallowed out, or just rusted out. The scraping noise will drive you nutz!!

What rotors and pads did you buy? Motorcraft?

At 7:19 it looks like your rear brake pad (outer one) is missing its spring clip at the top, Not sure if the new brake shoes didn’t come equipped with the spring clip or whether you installed two inner brake shoes on this side.

My driver side is grinding when I brake. Changed pads last month, any ideas of what it could be?
@smoked-outgarage32613 жыл бұрын
It could be the little metal clips designed to keep your brake pads from rattling. If they aren’t attached properly to your brake caliper bracket there is a pretty high chance they are touching the rotor and making a grind or squeak.
