Great video, of course I’ll add a lil something. After you put the pads back on (15:43) and typically before you put the caliper back on the break pad hardware fully clips around the top and bottom fingers of the pads. This probably doesn’t matter much in most instances but in certain instances the hardware, can protrude out just enough to scrape the inner portion of some wheels. Especially if the you have hidden balancing weights. This comment is just to help the few that run into an obnoxious squeal coming from the wheel following the brake job. Again your video is great.

FYI, according to the Haynes manual for setting the bearings... its 1) rotate assembly ccw while tightening spindle nut to 17-25 FOOT pounds (not inch pounds) 2) back off spindle nut 1/2 turn 3) tighten nut to 22-25 INCH pounds. I'm not sure you're using enough force to seat the bearings in step 1.
@HonzoSample
@HonzoSample Жыл бұрын
@@derfiemcgoo9673 it doesn't appear so. The Haynes manual I have is for 92-14 E-150 thru E-350. I'd think the 250 or 350 might have a different/beefier hub but this manual doesn't seem to have different figures for those models.

I saw a video where the grease was placed on hand get the bearing from the base of and "push back into to the grease" that will pack grease into the bearing.

It’s not rocket science any way you can jam grease in to the bearings is sufficient.

I’m a little curious why you replaced the rotor and pads in the first place, but then re-used the wheel bearings, seal and even the 5 cent cotter pin…..
@f.s.detailgarage7869
@f.s.detailgarage7869 Жыл бұрын
Because the pads and rotors were worn. The wheel bearings are serviceable if nothing wrong with seals and even the 5 cent cotter pin the reuse and regrease bearings. Easy deal don’t overthink things. If your more comfortable spending more money than rightfully do it. Thanks for watching!

Can you move the axle nut only with hand? :0 why is not tighten?
@f.s.detailgarage7869
@f.s.detailgarage7869 2 жыл бұрын
That is the bearing can still function properly. If you crank the nut down you will smash the bearing rendering it useless and frozen in place.

How in the sweet fuck do you remove the rotor from the hub
@brianmontgomery9714
@brianmontgomery9714 10 ай бұрын
the hub is riveted on to the rotor, unlike newer types. bearings and seal are replaceable. if the rotor is beyond it's useful life or is warped, buy a new one, races are normally pre-installed in it.

On second note, anyone that has the ability to wrench on things and go by feel is who you want working on anything. The owners manual doesn't teach this.
