Ford E350 - No Crank | Why Do They Always Blame the PCM?!

We have a 2010 Ford E350 diagnosed at another shop as needing a PCM. After finding no power, it was clear that this was not diagnosed correctly. It ended up being really simple, begging the question, why do some shops always blame the PCM?!

A few shops I deal with don't have service info; I can't understand it. Every time I'm there, I try convincing him to get some. It's like talking to a wall... It keeps us mobile guys in business lol

I love being mobile. Gives me lot of flexibility. I have an appointment on Sunday where customer says she's been driving without a horn since she bought the car 3 years ago. She said multiple shops can't figure out and and yes...the actual horn was replaced by a shop.

The only problem with this: Why did the fuse blow? It's not a bad idea just to give the wiring harness a 20 second look over and see if there is anything obvious along the way. It could have a wire rubbing and shorting somewhere

I think the main problem here is that FULLY BLINGIN' steering wheel cover. The van is trying to say 'no way bro, I'm not going to run wearin' that s@#t' Maybe we should simply just blame the driver for fitting that god awful thing!!🤣🤣🤣👍

Had a ford motor home tow in for a no start condition and had the same fuse blown ! Check the circuit for short to ground and did not have one.

I had a guy bring a similar van to get his instrument cluster replaced. I guess it died going down the road a year prior. It was towed to another shop and they replaced the fuel pump and I was told fried the new pump. Customer wanted his Ebay instrument cluster "installed" I told him I dont just do things like that I diagnose them. The shipping box was still taped when he left. It had a blown 10A fuse.

I'd be so pissed to have to deal with that battery issue! I would have starting complaining from the beginning 😂. They blame the pcm when they can't figure out basic problems.... always blame the magic mystery box lol

I have to wonder if the first shop did something wrong, saw a spark, saw everything dead, and decided they blew the PCM. Of course, this raises the question - what was the original problem? It's unlikely the fuse just decided one day "screw it, I'm outta here". There's more to the story.

I'm really happy with it for programming works great! I would recommend getting the 7th gen over the 6. If you can find I highly recommend getting the bump out cover for the extended batteries. I had a very hard time finding a used one and I ended up getting it new and it was pretty expensive.

A lot of people don't like crimps because of their experience with cheap crimpers. Now that's what I call a crimper! Done right, a crimp will be stronger than the wire. No chance of pulling out.

So, is it ok to just put a new fuse in it and not worry about any short in the circuit? Or do these fuses just blow after a while or so?

Since I saw that battery terminal broken, I assumed that it was a voltage spike or reverse boosted

@@Khans1199 it's possible but I had no history so could be some were replaced. I sent a pic to the shop owner of which fuse and said if it happens again well look at it then.

I like the looks of that Panasonic tablet. Couldn't catch the model... I'm trying to work my way into the diagnostics, but I live in BrokeVille, where people thrive on rusted out 10 + year old, used cars. Everything under warranty goes to the dealerships... I'm stuck parts changing rust buckets. (mostly)
