Took me about two weeks working off and on, but I finished it and drove it and MAN! What a difference. It's absolutely amazing how enjoyable driving my truck is now. SO WORTH IT. Thanks!!!!

I have faithfully followed all of your 16 videos while tearing down, assembling, and building up my 4R100 transmission from my 2001 Lincoln Navigator, not only once or twice, but several times to make sure I had no left over parts, and your videos were highly useful and necessary and right to the point. I thank you sir, for saving me a few hundred dollars and for giving me the pleasure to do such a complicated job myself, a job that most certainly would have not been possible without your help. Great videos!!!

I feel like I’m saying goodbye to an old friend after this journey. Thanks for all the insight. We were able to successfully rebuild the transmission on an old box truck. As odd as it sounds, we kind of want to rebuild another! 😅

Jimmy. I walkthrough the rebuild of my 4R100 using your videos. My original transmission lasted 260k miles. I like your course and I’m putting the trans back in the truck in a couple of days. I just wanted to tell you thanks for the class. Your time doing these videos is truly appreciated. John

I would work on it after work and it took about a month to take it apart and put it back together. Make sure you take your time and make sure everything is correctly torqued and gapped!! I put the shift kit as well and it works sooooo good. Fantastic video sad to see it end….. kinda lol. Also 2001 f250 have a dialed Sprag assembly make sure you replace that if you have 2001 because that style fails.

Thank you. I’m just replacing the accumulator valve body in a cell in my body but now I want to clean the main valve body. Can I remove these without removing the Seperator plate? I’m doing this with the transmission in the truck. Thank you.

So the E4OD model has a service bulletin about the rear extension housing bushing not getting enough lubrication, and spinning the bushing. The fix per Ford is to ream out the tiny oil hole at the rear of the case with a .066" wire drill. That would be useful information to include, so viewers don't run into the lack of lubrication issue these transmissions are known to have shortly after the transmission rebuild.

I have a 2002 ford f250 with the 7.3 , what is the purpose of the small filter and spring? My 4R100 had this installed. I’m not sure if it’s the factory transmission or not. Is this something I can remove if it’s not the 2002 tranny in it? What problems would it cause if it was installed in the 2002 tranny? Great set of videos btw, very very useful. Thank You!!!

Uhoh. saw at 12:28 output shaft weep hole is toward top. Only mistake I've seen. I've rebuilt 100s of these things as a Ford tech. Real pieces of junk up until about 1995 and even then they were marginally good. I guess they got better a little later but I quit the industry in '98. They were so bad that I had burned into my memory every part# I ever needed. Parts guys loved that...no microfiche to explore.

have a r 4 100 behind a 2000 7.3 e450 cutaway and would like to put a NP transfer case behind it. It has a drive-line break behind the extension housing where the out put speed sensor is (in the drive-line break) i have tried the sensor at the differential, the extension housing,on the traney and t case. not giving the info to shift correctly. what might be my next move. Thanks for any help.

This may be a stupid question but if that bushing goes bad can that cause a kind of sqealing sound and or the slip yoke to bind enough to cause the bump after coming to a stop.

What a good video friend you do your job very well, I am a faithful follower, like ... I take this opportunity to ask you: you know that the transmission was repaired to my truck, an automatic Cherokee XJ 98 and I was fine 2 months, but then I had in the workshop as 2 weeks for other things, and from there does not want to change, but I put it manually and if it is 1st 2nd and then I put it in D and nothing happens, check the oil and it's fine, this is because that transmission is repaired Not long ago, then my question is, will it be an electrical problem? or tell me what do you think it is? I appreciate your quick reply Friend I ask ... Greetings

Very good lessons, but if I ever decide to rebuild my 99 F250 trans, I wouldn't do any of the valve body mods. For one, my trans has never given me any issues in over 300k miles, which I think is due to the fact that the shifts have always been very quick, with virtually no overlap, so I'd have no reason to make it shift any differently. And 2, I'd be scared to death that after drilling holes in the valve body, I wouldn't get all those shavings completely removed. My understanding is that one tiny little piece of leftover metal can ruin the trans. Also, I didn't like the method he used to seat the new bushings. I would cool them down, then insert them. And if that didn't work, I'd rent some proper sized drivers. I mean, it looked to me like he damaged the edge of that last bushing he installed. Using his method, you're relying on lining everything up by eye, so if you get that bushing even slightly cocked as it's started, you risk putting unequal force on its edge as you continue to bang on it to get it straightened out, which to me is just asking for damage. But other than that, really thorough.
