I've been an auto mechanic for 34 years and diagnosing and performing repairs has become exponentially difficult in the last twenty years. Your perseverance and skill set is excellent as well as your video editing. This repair is by no means easy, but this vid makes it possible for the back yard mechanic. I just subscribed.

thank you for the help. I did it thanks to you posting this video and it saved me 879 dollars that the mechanic wanted to charge me. I know its hard work but I did it my self.

This was super helpful BUT once I got to the fan I was met with cotton wood fluff. So I didn't need to go any further. Thanks for your video

My blower motor just went. I’m crying watching this but I’ve replaced entire front end steering and suspension among other mechanically inclined projects. Still makes me sad this 20 min video will probably take me 7-10 business days 😂

Yesh it’s fun. Take your time. The trickiest part was figuring out how to unlock the motor from the housing and which way to twist it. 2 of the bolts holding the right side heater housing to the center part was a bit of a pita too. I can see it being nearly impossible if you don’t have go go gadget fingers. I recently had to remove a starter in a Chevy colorado(2016 V6,4x4). It was way more of a pita than this escape heater motor. Had to remove the left inner fender,exhaust pipe/cat,steering shaft,unbolt both engine mounts and trans mount, jack up engine and support it, remove the entire engine mount from The frame and engine and engine block, then you could see the starter. Had to get the starter out to get to the torque convertor bolts…turned what should have been a 3-4hr job into a 12 hr(book time) fiasco🤮

@@turdpailsandtrails my hands are pretty big so it makes projects like this where I call in the Calvary. I’m teaching my 7 year old car stuff so I can use his little hands! Thanks for taking the time to make the video and respond to everyone! This is what the internet is for!

If you rotate it from the driver's side, without removing all those parts on the right, does it not come out? It seems to me that everything you opened on the right is for nothing...or is it just me?
@turdpailsandtrails26 күн бұрын
I thought the same thing until I tore into it. Unfortunately the motor has to come out the right side. The hole on the left side is too small so you’re forced to take the rh side of the box apart to slide it out that way. Great design👌

These stinking engineers couldn't have made much more difficult to repace something that wears out mine is starting to whine so it needs replaced thanks for the video on what it takes to replace

Wow, this is the second video of a Ford product where you showed the blower motor to be sunk behind the center stack. The other was a Mazda5, if I remember right. Are newer Ford Escapes (2020 and newer) and Bronco Sports still burying the blower motor this way?
@turdpailsandtrails7 ай бұрын
It looks like they moved the heater motor to a more conventional/less idiotic spot in the later years. Bolted in from the bottom up near the glove box.

I found out the hard way to take off that piece you bent is way easier. The two black t 20 bolts and the other bolt will take off that plate to reach the back bolt on which you used the real small rachet.

How on earth did you remove the screws for the heater housing? That top one will be the death of me.
@turdpailsandtrails3 ай бұрын
I can’t remember exactly, pretty sure I just used a torx screwdriver. Once you find the screw it was easy. Do the one against the firewall first . T-15 or t-20
