Hi, and thank you for the video. My 2005 Escape Hybrid engine is turning electric while is low temperature but when hoing hotter ouside (above 25C) and when the engine is hot is not going electric anymore. I also hear the battery fans running all the time. Unfortunately my OBD is not running anymore, apparently someone along the way break it. Is there any other way to confirm that the battery fans have issues? Kind regards.

Great video! My wrench light comes on in the summertime for the past 2 summers, took it to the dealer to read the code and they said it was the battery fan ($1700). I think I can fix this myself but I want to make sure this is the issue because my car will still go into EV mode. Could it still be the fans of the escape will go into EV?

I know it's been almost a year but I'm facing the same issue with my 2006 FEH. There is a mobile version of ForScan and using that with the vlink adapter I can also load PIDs into the dashboard. Once the battery reaches 100 degrees F the AC demand switch turns on to cool the battery. It's supposed to run the engine and the AC till the battery is down to 70F and the process repeats. I needed a new ac compressor and I had a hole in the evaporator. So now, I'm still pulling battery fan codes so replacing the fans are next. Also know there is a paper filter in the trunk on the driver side. There's a pull off access panel. This filter is for the battery compartment and needs to be replaced when it gets dirty or once a year..

Any luck cracking the cooling fan open and identifying a problem? I've replaced my fans once, and now I think my new set have failed too.

blowuplovesyou None. I emailed the company that was labeled on the motor (Nidec) and never got a reply.

I did find a thread on greenhybrid.com where a guy did tear one down, and there’s a computer board under the fan with a chip fuse and mosfet chip that can fail. I believe I was getting errors because it was so hot in my battery compartment the fans shut down (temporarily) and hybrid mode wasn’t happening. My a/c was working poorly and it’s ability to cool the battery was nil. On a cooler day I took my battery apart and both fans were definitely kicking back in.

How did you do to start the car and see what fan was not working ? I tried to do the same but the car doesn't start with the battery cover out

I didn't ready the car (key on, engine on), it was simply in accessory mode.
