Thanks Richpin! Saved the day, for my daughters' Tribute. Wish I had that homemade tool there, but a big flat blade and a hammer worked ok. Shop vac the top area and lay down a bunch of shop towels before removing the pump guys!!

2002 Mazda Tribute ES V6 3.0L 99kmi - crank but no start condition; checked fuse and relay, no audible sound so assumed it was the fuel pump. I initially changed Idle Air Control Valve (Duralast TV281 inlet valve, and Coolant Temperature Sensor (Duralast SU2301) first as they were quick fixes but still no start. My install was similar to the video except I put down some plastic to catch any drippings, used a small plastic bin to place the old pump in once I pulled it out, shop vaccumed the area to protect against debris falling into the tank and put a box fan on the rear passenger side to blow the fumes out. Vehicle started right up after reinstalling the negative battery cable.

Smashing job :-D, it had no chance against your custom tool. Oh how nice it would be if certain cars had that access plate, thoughtfull design :-) You sound nearly 100% mr richpin, good :-D :-D I hate illness :-(

You could add that if installing during low temperatures it is a good idea to warm the screw on retainer in boiling water before installing. I was unable to get mine on until I did that. Went on easy when warmed thoroughly.

Thank you very much for this video I used it to replace my fuel pump on my 2003 Mazda Tribute. It was very helpful. Although I have a question when I was reconnecting the fuel pump to the car's electrical system one of the harnesses wouldn't click in. I was able to get it plugged in enough to work and to get the car running again but the fact that it never locked is bothering me. the old pump connected no problem but the new one won't. any thoughts?
@oz_medias7 жыл бұрын
Not to nitpick but, especially in your case, you should vacuum up/brush off any crud sitting in the valley around the lock ring before opening up the tank.

how come all of the videos that I watch about removing the fuel pump from this car have those big blue twist caps that allow u to remove it . mine is like engraved. did they stop this with the 05 models or something to prevent ppl from doing it themselves?

is the last sensor he pointed to the fuel temperature sensor?

The first electrical connection you mentioned at 1:25 is missing in my 2001 Escape. Is that normal? Or is that missing connection the reason the fuel pump isn't working?
@davidarroyo50184 жыл бұрын
Mine is a 2003 and was wondering if that was the reason pump wasn't working because it's got the round pretty long kinda looking connector but nowhere to connect it.

@@davidarroyo5018 FYI, I replaced my fuel pump and it didn't have any place to plug that weird random plug, but it has been working just fine for months now. /shrug

My 2010 Mazda Tribute has a "intergraded fuel filter " which means it's in the pump right ?I've search the lines from engine to tank and the only thing I seen between was a black box I'm guessing that has to do with the Evap system ,,any helps appreciated

after putting the new fuel pump in the gas tank, replacing the fuel pump locking ring is a son of a gun... it does not want to thread back on straight... ive now tried for 6 days to screw the locking ring back on straight... its a hard job because you have to match up the tabs, then push down on the fuel pump, then screw on the locking ring... this is a very poor design by ford... all i can do is keep on trying to get the ring to screw on straight... anyone have an idea for me do do this ??????
