Thank you so much that idea to tie the manifold to the right is so much easier than to remove it, but for those of you looking to replace the PCV valve at the same time, it is at the back of the engine to the drivers side on top of the cylinder head but below the manifold it has a black hose with a clip that has a little bit of green on it, you see the PCV hose is like 3 to 6 inches long and has a black and green connector on each end one end is on the PCV valve and the other end is connected to the back of the manifold it is that hose you have to click off,I hope this helps someone because this video really helped me

Just got through changing the spark plugs in my 2004 Escape using your procedure. Your video saved me a lot of time trying to figure out what to disconnect emove to get to the rear coils and plugs. There are several videos on KZbin that cover this, but yours is the only one I saw that uses a bungee cord to hold the manifold out of the way without messing with the throttle body. Very helpful and it didn't take that long to do. One thing that I was concerned about was fitting the coil to the spark plug. I couldn't get the rubber tube to go down far enough on the top of the spark plug. The coil unit was sitting about 1/4" above the threaded hole on the engine. I tightened the bolt and the unit compressed down fine, but I don't know if that is normal or if it should fit flush with the threaded hole on the engine before tightening. Also I found a vacuum connector on the front of the engine had cracked and broken. Really bad vacuum leak I had to fix.

I'll add a few things they don't mention. The top of my motor was pretty dirty, so before you open it up, run a shop vac or compressed air over it. Also, i noticed debris down in the spark plug tubes after removing the coils. Vacuum those or blow those out also. Two of my plugs were pretty much frozen in place. If that happens, spray a little WD-40 into the tubes and let that sit in for 20 minutes or so. That way you don't break off a plug. Thanks for the video!

This video is a great help, to reassure me that I will not be attempting this. And I'm in the middle of restoring my 81 Fiat Spider 2000. This is just insane! Looking at this process of changing spark plugs makes me feel like for the first time that Ford wants me to hate them.

Thanks for posting, this is hands down the best way to do this job. Just removing enough parts to get the intake out of the way worked perfectly and made the job easier. I had plenty of room to work with the intake pulled up and secured out of the way with a bungee. Your video made this job look so easy I had to tackle it myself. Saved me over $400.00 Thanks Again!

I just did this job and it wasn't nearly the nightmare I had expected. It's a pretty easy job. One thing to note: the vacuum fittings connected to the rocker covers will most likely rip/tear from age, it can't be avoided.Ford sells the entire replacement tube kit only, they won't sell the individual rubber fittings. The entire assembly is under $50.I made my own out of heater hose of a couple different sizes.Personally,I refuse to pay 45 bucks when I only need 2 rubber vacuum fittings

This video convinced me to do the job myself even though I was nervous about taking the top of the motor off. I just marked every connection with a numbered piece of tape on each piece. Also, take alot of pics as you take things apart. Its very easy and if I had had the correct plugs, would have taken less than an hour.

@yurtaevi thanks! That is so true! I brought my car in for a regular oil change at 40000K, they called to say that my breaks were worn down, that it would cost me like over $500 to fix them, but the funny thing was that they were just fine before, peddle was high, no noise, all was good but and guess what, they changed the brakes and put old ones on because when I picked it up from the dealers afterward, my breaks were low! so we fixed it ourselves, cost us about $80, I wasn't too impressed!

Much cheaper than having a shop do it, even factoring in new coils! I honestly prefer having to take off the intake than how it is on my 3800, that baby I have to take the dog bones off and rock the engine forward, which still includes bloody knuckles. Just finished changed all spark plug it is pain in the ass for the top part process, and I had to be careful not damage any cable and hose. Specially up right top spark plug hole is hard to get it out because I don't have enough space put my wrench inside. Who ever decided this to spark plug spot is dump. Any ways many thanks upload this video, and I don't know how much outside or Ford will charge this services. 6 spark plugs only cost me $35.00 bucks.

Thanks for the video it helped us to get this done yesterday. we changed the spark plugs after being prompted by the check engine light and got the code read at the local auto parts store. It's a good idea to clear the capacitors also. Run a wire from the disconnected negative cable to the connected positive cable and leave connected for about 10 minutes. Be sure to insulate the negative cable from the post with a rag. Make sure it doesn't hit that post while doing it.

The failed coils usually damage the PCM on these vehicles too. If you still have misfiring or get any of the P0351-P0356 trouble codes after the coils are replaced, then the PCM is the culprit. The great thing about servicing your existing PCM is that there is no need for any programming after the repair. Your PCM will still work with your existing keys. Feel free to find us on the web (CircuitBoardMedics).

Great vid. I posted a video response hopefully it will be approved. Every job is different, someone below quoted $75.00 bucks. On my V6 Sonata, Hyundai dealer wanted 2.5 hours of labor to remove intake and replace plugs. Took me 3 hours to pull intake off, and 30 minutes to put it back together. After learning to pull it off, I am more confident I can pull it in an hour or less. My advice to everyone, Process of elimination! If it doesn't come off, whats holding it on? Find it, remove it, voila!

I'm dreading this job... but when I do I know I'm going to change the rear coils as well as the plugs. I don't want a coil to fail after all this nonsense. Also changing the intake gaskets would be a worthwhile investment. No offense intended but I know I'll have to put paper towels to plug those intake holes while I'm fumbling around changing stuff lest I drop something in there.. It does seem doable ( if my back holds up that is )
