Ground wire on the bonnet is for noise suppression for radio I think.

You should seriously consider selling this car in the UK, Any 'Ford's' sell for a good price and will get done up!

I set fire to a nova doing a weld in that spot. sparks ignited the carpet sound deadening. luckily co2 fire extinguisher was on hand and I put it out quickly and saved the car with a bit of paint and a new carpet

I've used split boots in the past and they have always lasted as long as I have had the car. I don't like them but it gets the job done 😁

When I had one the chassis legs at the rear which weren't used on the mark 5/6/7 because of different suspension I glued a piece of metal on and used. Underseal ( It was a small hole )

Great save, I didn't think it will be possible to fix this rust with taking out so few things! The split rubber boot is a great idea, I will try to find some for my Bluebird :)

Happens to every steel car, really, in places with salt in the air, or on the ground.

@@DetroitMicroSoundExcept Peugeots. They just don't rust at all. My old 309 was driven in the snow and salt for over 30 years, only rust on it is from a botched crash repair where they just used 10 tons of filler and it held in all the moisture. Fords though are just worse than any other make when it comes to rust.

Wow! I didn't know that those rubber boots can be changed like this. You don't have to take the shaft out. Very interesting!

Well done on a very difficult repair in a very awkward spot Seppo. I hope all went well at the MOT test.

Hi! Discovered your channel recently and I find it very entertaining. I’m not a brand specific car guy, I’m more interested in cars in general. I can easily watch one hour of rebuilding a porsche 911 gearbox or how to time a diesel injection pump for an old bosch ve injection pump, just because I want to understand how it works. What I’m trying to say, is that I really think you have something good going on 😅. Keep up the good work!

Now ya need to find a MODERN Fiesta.... 😉 ...I just had a new windshield put on my Mk 7.5 hatch yesterday, and they accidently put it on so off center, that they have to come back, and take it off, and re-center it...

How about stickwelding? You can bend the stick. It's less awkward than the welder torch gun thing. Or is the flux a problem on cars? Not an experienced welder, just saw that technique on another channel.

Wow! Given the limited access to that area you did an good job. Never mind the tidiness of the repair, can't be helped. I don't mind these vehicles at all despite having experienced some grief from one of those that was owned by somebody else . Looking forward to the swap 🎉.

Certainly not an easy spot to work in and replace metal, and surprising that someone actually still had repair panels too, would have thought sources for those had dried up years ago when the cars became so uncommon to see... :S

My first car was a 1999 Ford Mustang GT V8 Got it brand new and it had nothing but problems that's why you can't even see a Ford in America anymore like you used too I don't know about Europe but I would guess it's the same.
