To help with oil canning, you need a wet cold rag handy. Heat the metal and then cool it fast, it will shrink then.

Hi Dave found over the years when using dent puller if u pull the slide hammer or pull claw with a ratchet strap and have constant pressure and planish around it prevents stretching to much and high spots

I have no experience whatsoever in using these things but I do remember Chris from Salvage Rebuilds UK say that you should always start from the outside of a dent first and work your way in to the centre and not centre first - he did a little demo that might be worth looking at

Kicked into yet another RS2000 that needs sills, floorpan & quarters today Dave - the endless procession continues. Came in with big chunks of donor car the owner had bought for us to use sections out of. Except the donor car was a cabriolet... so bears as much resemblance as a dogs backside does to a cats face, :-) "Donor" bits are also as rotten as what we're gonna cut off. :-) I did lol a little.

Cabby sills are like railroad tracks by comparison - think they weigh more than the entire RS shell. :-)

Looking better and better fella. The spot welder with the pin point after a pull twist off 👍🏻. Plus have you thought about Riv-nuting the front wings on ?
@DavesGarageuk
@DavesGarageuk 10 ай бұрын
I have thought about bolting/riv nuts, but I'm not sure it's going to be as strong as welded on??
@stevehalverson4315
@stevehalverson4315 10 ай бұрын
@@DavesGarageuk it’s become a common practice after a shell rebuild, you have made the chassis as strong if not stronger than when it came off the belt new. As soon as you cut the arches in it’s compromised the shell.

It was always a done thing first time round 😛 to but and bolt the wings. Bonus is they on and off easier.

Nice work there Dave. Dent work is definitely a game of patience. But quite therapeutic and satisfying when it goes well I find. I am no Pro. Self taught like you but think with the shrinking it works better if you give the panel a quick cool after hot spotting it. Using a cool damp cloth or compressed air. I have been using this method with a MIG. Much cleaner with the tool you have but I can't really warrant the cost for odd jobs I my build.
