Car's looking great now Dave. Just my experience having painted 3 cars now in my own garage, the very act of sheeting up everything disturbs a load of dust which would otherwise lay dormant. All I do now is give all the roof supports a wipe down with a wet cloth, lightly spray the floor with water and get on with it. Extraction is the key. I found the cheapest way to remove the most air was to use a pair of cooling fans off a Range Rover V8 run off a spare battery that I keep charged. Judging by the colour of them now, they certainly extract some crap!

Hi Dave it’s coming along great, would love to see you rattle can the car. If you are interested as I know you have painted a few cars already but what I did was build a dexion/ handi angle frame inside my garage and clad it in thickish sheet sealed to the floor and the dexion frame, with a zip up door from wickes, two box fans as the Americans call them, some Led strip lights inside and a large vent tube 300mm the other end to the fans and therefore had my own neg pressure spray booth to keep the dust off . Worked a treat

That looks like an amazing job. The original cars never had half that amount of body color in the interior, as you say it was really only about covering the rear window sill area. I did find a partially used 8" stick of lead fill in a daytona yellow 1974 4 door 1300L though that was primed and painted (on 1 side). Interior looks nearly as sweet as the honey!

My hair is whiter than yours, i sprayed a load of signboards in 2k a while back and ended up with a blue rinse (-: Worth filtering all primers and topcoat, you'd be amazed the amount of crap thats in the paint, especially tins that have been opened a few times. Tack rag everytime and water the floor, also if your compressor can cope, use an HVLP gun, helps to keep the dust down
@DavesGarageuk2 ай бұрын
🤣🤣 yep did filter the paints, when I do the exterior I'll be making a tent etc

Lovely job. Going to be really good to see the first few bits go back into a painted interior and engine bay. How hard is it to see you have good paint coverage in white when your base coat is white? How good is your lighting to see what you're doing with white on white?
