Love the tacho footage. Here in 2023, you could get Ai to clean up all the Video interlacing lines in the footage. Wild Mk1 2.0L.... amazing its easily revving to over 8000rpm. Thats normally left for the BDA engines.

I had a orange twin cam with a pinto 2ltr in it. All the gear. Used to pin the tacho at 8000rpm count to 3 then hit the next gear. It would pull 7800rpm in top gear. Awsombe fun.

We call it the 2000cc Pinto here in the States , in Europe you call it the RS 2000... because you never had the Pinto....Either way...my favorate inline 4cyl OHC...Really responded well to Performance mods...I had it in the Capri Mark 1 and the Pinto....Manual Transmission was a must....Gears ..Carburation...and RPM....it loved all three...👍

Its a 2 litre Ford Pinto, very old and very cheap. You can find them easily in Ford Sierras. Great to tune, but a bit long in the tooth these days.

the valves are ticking. But that is standard on a old ford. I had one Sierra 1,8 mk1. First car. Then I got an escort MK3 1,6. Then escort mk4. after mk4 again. And they was all ticking. Specially the MK3.;but the all 4 drove fine. At that time the cars was very expensive here in danmark. so I could just effort to drive ford. I upgraded later to a 323i E30. And have never drive ford since. but I really like those old escorts. Mk 1 mk2. But they are so crazy expensive . :(

MKIII Escort 1.6 was a CVH engine with Hydraulic tappets which meant there were never any valve clearance to make a tapping sound.

That bottom end must be farr from stock to rev that high , or your tachometer is rs.

I have the Same Engine in my Mk1 Capri. 2l Pinto. The Car goes awesome! But I have only 7500 rpm, not 8400 :D

2 Things. 1. Loose the music, 98, 500 people click play to hear the car. 2. Get a cover on that timming belt, a stone will snap that belt if it get in. I speak from experience. We were lying first in class and tenth overall in our little 106 pug. The last stage , 300 meters from the end, the timming belt snapped and the engine put a leg out of bed, so to speak. Our Carlos Saints margam park moment. The timming cover had been removed to check a noise, but not replaced.

Yes people leave the cover off because it looks cool but live to regret it when something get's in between belt and pulley.

@@gwaponobby The original timing cover is pretty bad, it has a large gap there. I have heard that its even worse with the cover on. Eventually stones will get inside the cover and snap the belt.

If you do that in Germany, you can´t use the car on the street anymore. you have to use an old engine, or drive the car only on race tracks. This MK1 Escort is the maximum, what is legal on German streets. We have here too much rules for the street ... :(

No carbs, but injection with ITB's. Actually looks like a mechanical injection in a quick glimpse, which is highly unusual!

Marc Pencott Nope, no carbs here, you can clearly see it if you open your eyes ;). Like I originally said, ITB's (individual throttle bodys) with injection and judging by the looks of the injectors and the hoses/piping to them it's actually an old skool mechanical injection, which is very special in it's own way. I have Weber 45 DCOE's on my own Pinto engine and I know how they look.
