This isnt the proper escort cosworth, this one is the later YBP model which isn't as cosworth intended it to be. It has ford revised cylinder head, a much much smaller turbo and a Ford developed engine managment system which Your lucky to get more than 300 bhp out of... The escort to have is the earlier YBT model which has all the bells and whistles fitted not the model in this videos designed so my grandmar could easily drive it.

Ford had to do it for emissions, the smaller turbo for less lag and driveability and the small turbo is the better engine to. The plenum is so much better, and it has oil spray jets under the pistons for cooling. They also all have the same ford block.

one of these cars is an rs, the other is a fast car with an rs badge. rallye sport has a meaning, without the motorsport bred into the design building an rs is not possible no matter how good it is.

However its against a legend that people just love, and we all know the potential of a tuned Cossie to be one the best street weapons in the world! So this piss'es me off. I waited forever for Ford to finally give the US a RS version of the Focus. When they finally said that they were going to it was only going to be the ST and not and RS...never an RS. So I spent my wad on the ST..great car, but NOT an RS. Then two years later they announce the new RS and we can get it in the US... Friggin bastards! The value of my ST plummeted, and I can get nothing for it in a trade in on an RS.

Well, the mk 3 focus RS has just started to increase in value this year and this is very promising. In the future, it will most likely be remembered as one of the last "old school"(modern classic) racing hatches with similar attributes to the Escort RS Cosworth. No doubt, there are quite a number of people who remember the 1996 Escort RS Cosworth very fondly, and rightly so. It was indeed an excellent car for the nineties and these cars were highly sought after a while after. Today it remains a unique modern classic car, yet today, of those that remain are generally modified examples, some good, and some not so good. Obviously, an original unmodified example usually commands the highest value. People in the future will probably compare the Ford Focus mk 3 RS as being much more similar to the 1996 Escort RS in comparison as to how we see the cars currently. It's interesting because now we can see there's quite a different between the two vehicles and this is mainly down to technology. Die hards also tend to see the Escort RS Cosworth as being greatly superior (which it isn't), presumably because of less insulation, slightly closer to the ground, less doors, etc,etc... the usual stuff.. Admittedly, when the Escort RS Cosworth (or Cossie) was launched, it seemed a road/ racing car in terms of technology, ergonomics, safety and modernity. Yet it certainly had a hefty price tag, that's for sure and far too expensive for most folks. It was more expensive to produce, than the mk 3 Focus RS, and it was well known that it was part made of Sierra Sapphire and Ford Escort (pre 1996) parts. However, it was a Cosworth, so I would say this remains a bonus over the Focus RS. So all in all, it may be worth a little more, say, in 20 years than the Mk 3 Ford Focus RS .

I have an Escort cosworth, and i can tell you that they ARE fast, and they are a lot more mechanical to drive then the new focus.. The focus is faster and more comfortable, but the cosworth has is something very special, and you feel it when you drive. Having said that, the escorts are NEVER stock, they more or less come with the 330kit and it really helps the car!

you sir know not a thing about cosworths, stardard injectors are good for about 300hp with the fuel pressure turned up with the correct map, greens are good for up to 360hp-380hp again with the right setup, then you can put in greys but it is lumpy low down as there is too much fuel for idle but are good for aleast 460hp, as all these injectors are for the 1980s (30+ years old) there is the Siemans injectors now with the right set up are good for 1000+hp still with four only, as the old way was to put in eight. As for driving the escort is a lot easyer than a 2 wheel drive cossie,
