Its unfortunate the Isuzu MU-X does not have a 4WD system that works on standard sealed roads such as the Ford & Mitsu. The Pajero Sport might be getting old but it's still a great 4WD that can be used 100% of the time on all road surfaces. The Ford is great too but is it really worth the extra $10-15K?

The two vehicles with AWD on tarmac are at a great advantage. Very useful when it rains after a dry spell as that's whe the roads are the most slippery. Except for snow and ice in the high country areas. Pajero does it all saving 10K

I have never once wished I had 4wd mode for the road in the MUX. Towing a 3 tonne caravan, not towing, raining, none of it ever required an extra 2 driven wheels. I’m sure there are some exceptional circumstances where it might be handy, but I’ll take the fuel economy, less weight, and less complexity from not having the centre diff any day

Isuzu has stayed true to its roots. Not trying to move to the luxury side and sticking with its original workhorse purpose. I think that's what makes it one of the best. I own a 2019 2.5l D-Max and I will say it is the best car I've owned by far. Reliable and honestly a great offroad performer. Suspension is not the most comfortable on the road but offroad is where it excels.

Then your son will borrow it to go to wilderness, then your neighbour will buy it too. It is infectious. Been there done that.

Nissan patrol is bigger but has a higher ground clearance so much so that you can literally put a 33.9 inch tyre on a stock patrol without any lift. Silly to compare everest with patrol. The top spec everest with bigger tyres can do extremely good. But not a stock one for sure. Interestingly the stock patrol has a ground clearance of 270 mm.

I find it interesting how most of these car review experts, just review the cars and give opinon based on how they drive, look etc. Based on that, they influence or persuade people on what cars they should buy. Never mention or include about the after sale customer support, reliability, and how prolific some car manufactures/dealers are, with throwing customers under the bus with legitimate claims. Not naming names frd, iszy, nssn😂. That should also be included!!!

Nothing against the Mitsi, in fact for the price I'm pretty sure I'd pick it over the Isuzu and Ford, well, no chance I'd fork out $80k for a Ford. However I don't recommend mentioning race cars when discussing their road variants. Dakar Mitsi's are simply a road car shaped body on a different platform which can't be purchased = no relevance to what you can buy in a dealership. Cheers

Isuzu is poor with every other reviewer. As a matter of physics the Ford cannot use double the other two vehicles. He did the same with the Ssangyong. It runs 6 litres/hundred on the highway and he suggested a 650 km range after including low range driving into the fuel economy - who does that? It easily reaches 1000km on the highway, but Isuzu to be rated best in class here shows where his pay comes from. Just rubbish...

I had a 90's SWB Pajero and loved the thing, sold it to a friend at 300,000 km because the Mrs wanted something more upmarket, so found a Pajero sport with low km's, have had it 6 years and think it's awesome too, very comfortable and nimble, There's also a SWB V6 GDI (2001 yr) in the garage that's fun to drive . My friend loved the old one I sold her too, sadly it caught fire because of a birds nest, I was as gutted as her.

@@danielgonzalezd.4343 Yeah I like the landrovers too, Perhaps the reason the US doesn't have pajero's could be to do with size, The US seems to like big 4x4"s and the Pajero is fairly snug inside . It's perfect for me as I'm tall and lean and feels more like a sportscar than a 4x4, reminds me of the MGBGT I had when I was a young bloke, I won't be trading it for a long time.

@silverdale3207 Yeah man, I think you are right. Pajeros to me is compact car, and it is perfect for me, since I am not a heavy set man. And yes I would say most Americans would rather a bigger 4x4 SUV, because they are quite spacious. I am in Bermuda now, and I saw a couple of pajeros here and they are awesome cars. It is really a pity they don't exist in the U.S. But any way enjoy your car for years to come. I Wil do the same with my Land Rover Discovery sport.

Ordered Pajero Sport this spring and seems new facelifted models arriving, according to dealer photos. I think grille openings way too large and rads easily susceptible to damage in refreshed Pajero Sport. Mainly using paved roads but anyway would you recommend to add some additional protection? (in other words, will cooling be compromised when doing so?). Otherwise, afraid warranty will not cover cases when radiator gets damaged by stones or various road debris.

Very expensive over 70 thousand sounds pretty thirsty to and just wondering what Ford after market support is like. I suppose I better be careful what I say I better not be too negative.

Why do all theses comparisons with the utes and suvs when it comes to the ranger and ereverest they have the v6 when they make a 4 cylinder it’s like bringing a gun to a knife fight. Not really a true comparison to me.
