My 04 Ford explorer has a idling problem. When I hold it at a high idle it smooths out and runs fine. Do you think this is a vacuum leak. From the PCV. Or could it be the EGR

i have a p01450 code on 2007 sport trac. i have replaced the evap purge valve solenoid. I would appreciate it the help if theres someting else to check. 1. unable to bleed. 2. cv solenoid is stock open or filter is plugged . evap canister or tube. 3.outlet blocked or kinked between fuel tank.

Do I need to drop the gas tank to replace those two evap charcoal canisters located right on top of the tank?

Personally I have never replaced them. But from what it looks like yes you would need to do that period if you want to send me the year make model and engine size of the vehicle you are working on I can see if I could find some detailed directions that will explain it better.

I have code p0442 and about a year ago i had a new fuel pump put in. Not long after that my check engine light came on and now sometimes when i pump gas i have to pump it slowly. Just wondering what you think is going on, thanks.

Look for vacuum leaks.I think the PCV hose is known to leak on that vehicle.

@@ScottiesHobbies yes, the hose is around $5, $3 for pcv valve so $10 fix! Might suggest the gromlet that the valve fits in also. I'm having same problem, but I do hear a leak. Thanks for showing the location of pcv valve.

@ScottiesHobbies 231k on the mileage 04 explorer xlt and the route maintenance goes as normal sparkplugs change every 30 k oil change every 5 k air filter everyother oil change I did have the transmission rebuilt about 5 years back

Hhmm? I have a Haynes Repair manual for my '97 Explorer. It goes from 1991-2001. You might get the manual for 2002-5 and see. It's worth the money.

Late reply and I'm not a mechanic but I also own a Sport Trac, 2005. My mechanic told me the gas tank had warped and wasnt sealing correctly and it needed to be replaced. I haven't done it but they said it was around $470.00.

SOHC should of been in your title there's more than one 4.0 ford v6 OHV Is a push rod engine and is different than your SOHC
