The 0-60 between MDX type S and the other MDX variants is 1 sec difference. Is that precision crafted performance? 290 HP versus 355HP, the power output sounds significant but it does not seem proportional. Plus Type S is performance when it comes to the NSX but not on the MDX.
@nickns236599 ай бұрын
@@danielmelendez9943 , doesn’t change anything I said. Regular MDX doesn’t look as nice (different front end, smaller wheels, exhaust, etc), no massaging seats, heads up display, ambient lighting, inferior sound system, no air suspension, etc. The power is also very noticeable, I’ve had 5 MDX’s and the Type-S is far superior. @@nickns23659 heads up display is gimmicky, massage seats not overwhelming, a great sound system definitely necessary, ambient lighting useless, at the end of the day you buy performance, agility of the suspension to provide sharp handling and steering, for sure torque vectoring that allows the car to feel nimble and agile out of corners. Thus, making it feel smaller and lighter given that the MDX is about 4800lbs. The standard MDX Is comfortable but the seats have gotten smaller when compared to my 2011 model. @@CJColvin Nothing lasts forever. If you do proper maintenance they last a very long time. I was a hard core V8 guy for a long time - had a bunch of coyote 5.0 engines in my previous F150s. I test drove the Ecoboost and it just performs effortlessly and what closed the deal was all the torque available at a very low RPM. There's no replacement for "turbo charging". Is nice to see the explorer versus the Acura and Genesis. Clearly each car is tuned very differently, in terms of suspension, steering and power displacement. While the Acura was the lightest , correct me if i am wrong. But it felt like the Acura was the underwhelming engine even with the SH-AWD. I own an MDX, yes i love SH-AWD torque vectoring but that did not help this situation. Seems like this match was all about the raw power output, directly to the wheels. Great review, totally unexpected and definitely worthy commentary from the owner of the explorer after driving the Genesis. Shame on Acura for even placing the S type moniker on the MDX when just about all 7 seater SUV have more than 335 HP under the hood. Yet Acura dare to market the MDX as a Type S- SUV, what a joke! Maybe the Acura marketing team should watch and learn from FORD! To further insult Acura loyalists, the 3 variants of the MDX make less HP than a 2011 MDX base model with Standard SH-AWD. Congrats Acura on precision crafted performance!
@AnthonyParrilloRI9 ай бұрын
While I agree Acura and Honda have lost there way. A MDX in 2011 put out no more than 300 from the J37. Any MDX with the J37 came with maximum 310 from the factory. The Type S while, underwhelming when you look at everything that puts out much more. It does have 355.

I left an x3 m40i for the mdx type s. My wife has an ST and no way I'd ever touch that problem vehicle. I test drove a black label aviator for a while. Same issues as the ST. No thanks.
