Don’t worry guys the G70 content will still be flowing! For the F-150 guys new to my channel, we’ll be continuing to cover this F-150 as he adds more modifications as well.

I met up with my buddy Anthony to check out his new 2021 Ford F-150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost and to help with the install of the JB4 tuner.
Anthony’s goals were a sub 5 second 0-60 and overall more response across the powerband which makes for a much more enjoyable truck!
Video features multiple Dragy runs testing 0-60 on performance maps 1-3. We also tested mixing E85 gas with 93 to see how it would improve performance.

Why not just buy a street race car??? ANSWER. 1 because he didn't 2 because this can also tow 13,000 lbs 3 don't need a race car if the f150 can hang with them, haul the family, tow cars, oh and get 20 mpg when cruising. 4 live and let live. I'm sure some of the haters have enough of their own problems other than hating. 5 its also hilarious when you drag a camaros ass at a red light. The look on their face is reason enough! Good stuff guys

Nothing wrong with making your truck faster I'm with you on that! But no! It cannot hang with sports cars, the truck has 0 aerodynamics, the longer you race a sports car the longer the gap will increase its just physics. Other than that , nice quick truck for what it is.

When you launch it launch at around 15lbs, I’ve gotten 4.6 with a similar tuner. It should spin all 4’s

What about 5 star, MPT, BCB, and gearhead? Personally I’m going for a 5 star e50 tune. 3.9 second 0-60.

Brake boost the launch shouls help a lot, I got consistent 1.9 60ft sith my stock 2019 2.7 that way.

What happened to the map 3 run on 93? Kinda skipped over the meat and potatoes of the test. He needs to leave the engine cover off to reduce the heat load ontop the engine and put an aftermarket air box in with AMS charge pipes.

how about brake boosting at 2000and preloading the truck .my stock 21 f150 EB runs 5.0 consistantly on 93 no JB4 .you dont just mash the gas on a turbo motor there is a slight delay .

Just installed jb4 on my 2022 f150 online map 3 says 93 octane but on the app it says 93-e30 whats your experience

I got the JB4 for my 2.7 but since it’s not a flash tune you can’t remove the speed limiter which sucks

What's interesting is my 2,7 spins 1st,2nd and 3 in the 60 foot but his truck I do not here tires spinning. I use Hp Tuner and tuned it myself.

I used to get close to a 3.4sec is my WRX tuned giant turbo 20k more then I ever seen out of it but... I never felt it was that fast since I had a 1k superbike. Just how speed is for us junkies.

@@aj-lhe absolutely you get very similar gain to what he experienced but I bit better I’ve raced my brother’s 3.5 and I edge him out. (He also has a JB4)

Guys I have the Powerboost. No tunes but this. Without e85 what are your gains? Can you eliminate governor for top end, change tire sizes, shifting points, etc? Appreciate you taking time out. Merry Christmas 12/25/2021. CHRIS IN SC

It hasn’t been dynod but prob 30-40hp gain without E85. It can’t remove the top speed governor, it’s really just for managing boost, fuel trims, etc.

My best time to date 11/26/22 is 0-60 4.3sec. I posted on Dragy app. I have a Snow Performance water meth kit I am going to install soon and hope to get closer to 3.9 on my 60 run.

I have a 2020 2.7 and interested in this tuner but doesn’t seem to be much gain unless running e85? I’ll just be running 93 octane gas , would there still be sufficient gains with that ?

You might as well run e85. The 2.7 is flex fuel and e85 is cheaper than 93. MPG is about the same

@@TheAftermarket1 thanks. I just installed this on my ‘23 tremor so I’m still learning about it. My truck is bone stock but been running 93 octane since day. So as long as I choose the appropriate MAP settings, I can run 93/E85 mix?

Yes I would highly recommend a tune first. It will probably still run no problem, but you won’t be getting any gains from it and I’m not sure what consequences there would be on the fuel system.

I thought JB4 didn't hook up to the OBD port ? Making I one of the only Runners being undetectable by dealers for warranty work

It does, but it’s not a full flash tune. So it’s not permanently changing any ECU parameters. I simplify JB4 by describing it like a game of telephone. First guy says “make 12 lbs of boost”, second guy(JB4) says “make 16 lbs of boost”. The Jb4 can be removed in 10 mins and unless the dealer is suspicious and does a deep dive they’re less likely to notice it’s use.

You can't tune a 2020 or newer through the OBDII port. Ford locked the computer.

Well it’s in conjunction with the correct tuning map on JB4 to make sure it’s running properly. But yes, the stock fuel pump can take up to E40(40% E85, rest 93) from what we found.

I’m running E35 mixture at this moment and the fuel trims are not maxed out. It’s seems like the stock parts can handle E50 but there’s no added benefit.

@@anthonygonzalez7841 on the 3.5 you will have to change the fuel pump, but on the 2.7 stock pump will keep up with E85 in the tank.

5.5 is with a 1-foot roll out. That's how the rating is done. You can add .3 to all 0-60 ratings you see as specs. The true 0-60 stock is 5.7 - 5.8 without one-foot rollout

Weight to power ratio. Can’t sit in the truck with the driver and expect to see a big improvement in 0-60. Especially if his best previous time is with no passengers.

@@TheAftermarket1 for sure just don’t know why you started it with a passenger. Ppl will judge it based on time and not take into consideration a passenger. Makes no sense to me. Let’s see how much faster we are….and let’s add 200lbs or so…..I’m curious what it would have been with just the driver and now I’ll have to live, guessing what those numbers would have been. Lol.

But in all seriousness Anthony is a close friend, he’s got a few more parts coming in so we’ll be using this channel to document his build in the same way I do with my G70. I don’t expect you’ll see too much of a difference without a passenger.

Mentioned this in other comments but if the “before” included a passenger then the “after” will too. That’s how you show accurate results, not changing variables midway.

Because as we get older and start a family, we need a vehicle capable of being more practical all around than a GEN6 Camaro SS 1LE. Like the owner in this video I also went from a GEN6 Camaro SS 1LE to a F150. (18 XLT 302A FX4, crewcab, 5L) With nothing more than an AMRL tune my 18 5L truck will outpace my bolton 03 Lightning. I've owned LS1 cars in the past, and with only a tune I'd say my 5L is about stock LS1 Fbody fast, if not a little quicker. I have since bought my wife a low mileage 17 Lariat 501A, 4x4, crewcab, 3.5L truck that will be getting tuned soon. I grew up dailying Terminators, Camaros, GEN2 Lightning, etc, but with 3 kids I need something more practical, but enjoy having a strong running vehicle. The drivetrains that Ford offers in the F150 really lend themselves to modding easy HP, that is as easy to live with as it was when stock, and it's reliability suffer little to non when tuned correctly. The EB and 5L trycks are tuned from the factory ultra conservatively to be able to survive while pulling a load with 87 octane fuel. Not everyone is unwilling to step up to a higher octane fuel. Obviously the EB is easy to add HP with when you throw better fuel at it and more boost, and adjust the timing accordingly, but so is the 5L trucks. In many ways the 5L in the F150 us superior to the 5L in the Mustang GT. The GT comes factory requiring premium fuel, where the F150 will run fine on 87. This is done by retarding the timing like crazy in the F150, and that and the intake manifold are the main reason the GT makes noticeably more power that the 5L F150. Still the F150 holds several advantages. For sound purposes the 5L in the F150 uses the old fashion Windsor firing order, where the Mustang uses a different firing order. Neither firing order holds a HP advantage over the other, but the different firing order obviously requires different cams, but they are spec'd very similarly. This is the biggest difference between the Mustang and F150 5L's. They use the same block, heads, rotating assembly, and valvetrain. (minus the cams) The other big differences are IMHO big advantages for the F150. First the F150 with the 5L is a flex fuel vehicle from the factory. A stock 5L F150 runs great on E85. Mustang 5L is not factory flex fuel and requires modding to run straight ethanol. (As does F150 EB) This makes tuning very easy with the F150, and with a custom flex fuel tune you can run anything from 87-whatever higher octane available and the tune self adjusts. Also being factory flex fuel the fuel system has to be much more capable to support E85 which requires more fuel than petrol to produce the same energy, and this is why you get lower MPG with E85. The 5L F150's factory fuel system will support way more HP than the Mustang before requiring any modifications to it. To further help make tuning the F150 5L easier than the Mustang 5L the 18+ F150 5L uses speed density instead of MAF with the Mustang 5L uses. With SD there's nothing to peg or mod regardless of HP unlike with MAF. The SD sensor either reads the required pressure, or it registers that the engine getting the wrong pressure coming in. The only time SD is inferior to MAF is if you want to run aftermarket cams, as they generally open the valves more, and for longer durations, and this lowers pressures in the engine. SD works by measures pressure, where MAF reads velocities. Even the 20-23 GT500 uses the F150's SD. Again this makes tuning so easy with the F150, and with a 12:1 CR adding E85, and a tune to optimize running it yields big gains for little investment. This is why the RCSB 18+ F150's have vecome such popular tuner vehicles. Throw a Whipple, some bigger port injector, maybe a BAP or better flowing pump, a good E85 tune, and for good measure some billet oil pump gears, and your looking at a 750-800 WHP truck that in 4x4 form weighs about like a Charger Hellcat.
