I'm thinking this is my problem but my battery gauge doesn't work either. I have an 88 f150 with the 5.0.

That can be a tricky one, being it’s old can be the wiring to and from the cluster or the sending unit in the tank for fuel gauge.

Safest bet to just replace the sensor circuit for po463

Mines just showing slighty less than 3/4ths full and just stays there. Full or near empty.

The float lever on the fuel pump is probably corroded in place.

I have the same problem but now mine goes to 1/2 full. After some time it will creep up. After I pass the 1/2 way mark, it starts working again.

How are you supposed to connect a meter tot he harness with the tank installed AND jump up and down on the turkc to get the float to move? That's impossible. You have to drop the tank topt get to the wiring/harness/float.

Would this be the same on a 2005 f250 6.0 diesel. I installed a new fuel sending unit but my fuel hand still doesn't work and it's showing fuel data sensor error message on the dash

They both operate on the same principle, yes, but you have to check the wiring diagram going from the cluster to the sending unit. It’s probably a corroded or broken wire or bad ground.

@@Motorcarnut I had the gauges flashed on computer so I'm pretty sure the fuel gauge works. The mechanic said he wasn't getting anything from the fuel sending unit. Also one thing to note I didn't purchase a motorcraft fuel sending unit

Aftermarket units are ok, should of tested it before installing it but like I said it's probably a wiring issue.

Mine 2003 Ford service engine comes on. Is the P0460 code just the day I installed the REMOTE START alarm. But I read this Can also cause by the after market remote star. Can I still drive my truck like that.? My cluster my gauges are working fine including my fuel gauge..

Yes, but make sure your gas gauge is accurate before going anyplace long distance

That I’m not aware of. I don’t know why it would cause interference with the gauge.
