Great video! It is so cool that you guys are all prepared to go camping at the last minute. And it looks like your truck set-up will also help you get through emergency situations if needed. Thank you for the overview on your truck and how you have built it out for overlanding. Very impressive!

We like keeping some clothes in our ready to go camping set up. We use the clear zip bags from sheets and comforters for clothes so we can see exactly what’s in them.

@@caplesta Great tip! We agree- it’s so nice to just keep a few essential pieces of clothing in the rig, ready to go! Those clear zips are great and we also use mesh bags too. No hunting around to find things. 😀

Great setup! I'm looking forward to going full-size. What do you all think about a camper like go fast or Alucab Vs.RTT? Great vid!
@TaraAndJodyDoIt
@TaraAndJodyDoIt 5 ай бұрын
@@maxdexpeditions Thank you! Glad you liked it! We like the Go Fast and Alucab if it is going to be a full time overland rig. We went with the roof top tent because we need to put plywood in and do other truck stuff. We also like that the tent opens up to a king size bed so we have more room in it. What trucks are you looking at?

@@TaraAndJodyDoIt yea that’s one disadvantage of having a camper, can’t use your truck for truck stuff. Looking at the F150, Ram and the Colorado. But that will be far down the road when our son is all grown up.

@@markshane2686 You’re right, it’s a whole bugout truck! 😀 The tires are General Grabber 275/70/18 33” all-terrain. We got 50,000 miles on the original ones so decided to get them again. Thank you!

That's a good looking set up. A good looking woman too. Any chance you know and can share the total extra weight that entire additional overland set up weights, the pop up tent, the bed cap, the other stuff on top, anything you bring with you inside the bed or cab for the overland trip? Thanks. (I'm trying to decide whether to get a Raptor with only about 1,250 to 1,350 payload capacity depending on whether you get the 35 or 37, or a Platinum or Tremor with quite a bit more payload capacity but not as buttery smooth a drive. I'd do some after market work on the Platinum or Tremor))
@TaraAndJodyDoIt
@TaraAndJodyDoIt 4 ай бұрын
@@Nate-zy5ce Thank you and thank you! 😀 It all added about 850 lbs and the back definitely sits a few inches lower. Thinking about adding airbags. Would probably do the Raptor 37 if possible. Sounds like you’ll have a good setup either way though!
@Nate-zy5ce
@Nate-zy5ce 4 ай бұрын
@@TaraAndJodyDoIt Thanks for the reply. It's useful. I would add something. Yours is a Tremor, which has a higher I believe a significantly higher max payload capacity than either Raptor (The Raptor 35's payload capacity is a little higher than the 37's, but I agree I'd love the 37). If that set up at about 850 lbs causes the Tremor to sit noticeably lower a few inches, enough that you are considering air bags, then I would be very concerned about doing that set up on either Raptor. And adding leafs and/or airbags to a raptor, especially the leafs b/c can't adjust as needed, would likely cause the Raptor's buttery smooth drive to worsen. I've seen youtube videos of Raptor set ups and both leafs and airbags being done. Not sure a Raptor would be my best choice if I want to do any kind of overlanding with a set up like that, b/c one of the reasons for a raptor is its suspension and buttery smooth drive, but adding leafs especially, maybe airbags too, would compromise that. I'm leaning towards the Tremor instead of the Raptor a bit more now. Will continue my DD, but thanks for the insights.

@@Nate-zy5ce Totally get your point. That 37 is just nice because you can have the spare tire underneath with all that clearance. So much to consider though, and we definitely like the Tremor for the reasons you mentioned. 😀
