I think you have a wonderful idea to fix the frame rust on the trucks. But I see that this one is a very good candidate for POR 15. And on the new metal you can take put the POR 15 metal etch on it after it is washed. All the clean bare metal that you purchase usually has some type of protectant on it so it doesn't rust. We used to take it off with vinegar believe it or not. I've been using por15 for rust since It came available in 1978. There's other products out there if you want to try them on there. But you need to capsulate that rust on the back side of your frame rail and plus it'll make it look real pretty
