Just curious what’s the reason to put black down first? Does it help to see how the red is going down?

The black is a sealer called lumabase. It comes in black or white and I use it specifically for single stage paint. It helps fill all minor imperfections before color goes on. Since red is a darker color I used black instead of the white

How much paint did it take? How much primer? I have a 94 F350 I'm wanting to do next summer.

I ended up using about a gallon and a half spray ale single stage paint. When I say sprayable I mean it was catalyzed. That’s without spraying inside of the bed. Sealer was roughly 3 quarts.

What brand and type of paint did you use and why did you only do one coat of red?

I used a brand called Northstar. It’s a single stage paint and it sprays like the old Metacryll paint. And there’s actually 2 coats on the truck. I only filmed the 1st coat to show the application of it

For some reason I can only see another comment from another viewer. It's not letting me reply directly to you. The question is. Hiw many gallons of paint total on this paint job. And the answer is just under 1 gallon. That's with 2 coats using a single stage paint.

Each shop has a different price. And you also get what you pay for in my industry. Normally though you'll be anywhere from 3,000 - 5,000$

@@daboi8035 that is a good question. The single stage paint I used on this one is a company called NorthStar. And it ranges from $150-$200 a gallon. So depending on the job you just will need to account for that. Then the sanding and masking materials maybe all together $400-$500

Have a question I have a red f250 the one in the picture I did my mirrors color matched but with gray primer and they seem to be more brighter then the color of the truck did I need to use black instead of gray

No not necessarily. When you say you had it color matched. Do you mean you just gave them your paint code. And they mixed it for you? If that's the case it could be that you're seeing old vs new. Or possibly the paint you used has a different finish. Different mix of chemicals.

It's a bright red. For some reason on the video it came out more orange
