I have been looking for quite a while for a Festiva. Been a huge fan of the car, how simple it was to work on. Great outcome on both of those cream puffs. A true hardcore 44yr in the business of turning wrenches here from Cincinnati oh. Enjoying this content.

We will never see cars like this again in the US. Yeah they're not the safest, but they're dirt cheap, great on gas, and super easy to maintain

Gorgeous! I had three of them before they stopped manufacturing 😔. Strange seeing the auto version, I'm a stick-shift gal. Glad to see this transformation 👍

Great video, thanks for sharing! I always loved the form-factor of the Festiva. Only rode in one one time and finally drove a tired one a little at a used car lot (the salesman asked "Why in the hell would you want to drive a Festiva when you have a Saab?"). I wish I had considered buying one when they were in production...

Really awesome! I'm buying a used 93 next week for $600. I bought one in 93 off the lot new with my Mom as a first car. Learned how to make payments and truly always loved this car. Thanks for the video, much appreciated. 👍

Well done!! I own 4 of them and have been buying parts for to restore an 88L and 88LX. Plastic panels in really good condition (brown) are THE hardest things to find.

it looks amazing. i have a 1991. i think it needs a new clutch or transmission. also it has a really bad exhaust leak. and i don't know what's wrong with the throttle. i can only slightly depress the pedal to make it go. and it goes 70-75 downhill and maybe 45 mph uphill if it is a long hill. it's pretty flat here in south texas. i can cruise about 60 mph most of the time. also if i'm on the gas and then have to coast it will backfire at least once. i guess unburnt fuel mixing with the fresh air coming in from the exhaust leak or manifold leaking.

I have a 1991 Ford Festiva GL needs a rack and pinion and some $15 part for the passenger right rear brake and I’m told you can’t get any parts for it. Were they bullshitting me? I have to ship the car from Athens Ohio because of that …

@@variousengineering1965 I am paying about that much to have mine Shipped by truck to Seattle because nobody can find parts for it in Ohio and I now live in Washington state where I might slowly be able to find parts online or in a junkyard according to the mechanics I talked to

Just checked local junkyards and searched around Facebook. Then did a bit of research to find what mazda rx7 wheels would fit.
@DavidDeWittStudio Жыл бұрын
At this point the rack and pinion replacement cost me $1,071. The car needs brakes all the way around and an axle joint in the front plus a new spindle for the rear passenger side. Another $2,500 expected to pay out. But I don’t care I want my little Festiva running on the road again!
@DavidDeWittStudio Жыл бұрын
@@variousengineering1965 i’m in Brooklyn New York right now and the car is in Washington state but I managed to put over $4,000 into repairs of my 1991 Festiva, so far. It needs wheel covers and it needs a little bodywork. I’d like to repaint it. It’s not going to look nearly as good as what you’ve done but as long as it’s running great I’m going to be so happy!
@LionWithTheLamb Жыл бұрын
@@DavidDeWittStudio They were a bit hard on spindles due to the small tire and bearing size. The later Festivas didn't seem to suffer from this issue.
