My old landlord back in Santa Cruz drove a green one of these. He was a multi millionaire who owned several properties over the county. I asked him on day “what’s with the car?” He said he drives it to give the impression that he’s poor so he gets better deals when he’s buying. 😂 Smart man.

Did I hear a little buzzing right before shifting? Nice. I know I said to drop a dumpster on it, but now that it seems to ride better, I think it could end up being something. What, I don't know. Brought back some memories of my friend Rick's Festiva. It was that 90's Teal Green. We called it the Taco Bell car because it had one of those stuffed little dogs in it when he bought it. He actually liked it until the motor blew. I think it cost him a CB Radio in trade and $50 . He didn't replace the motor because he had all in like $200 in it and got $250 for it parting it out and scrapping what he couldn't sell off it. This was in the early 2000's.

my buddy had one we used to fold down the rear seat and throw 4 55 gallon buckets of drywall mud and our tools in the back and take it to the job sites. damn good little car the only problem was the tires and getting parts for the engine. we ended up having to use silicone on the old throttle body gasket when we did the valve cover gasket because there wasn't a listing locally for the throttle body gasket. this was also over 20 years ago so there wasn't as many online options at the time.

Change the gearbox oil to Redline Shockproof Heavy, it’ll make the old, tired, worn transmission much happier. While not cheap at around $15 quart the oil is magic. I’ve been using either the Heavy or Light, depending on application, in my road race car transmissions for 30 years. In most cases these are OEM transmissions, Miata, Sentra SER, Neon, VW, etc along with racing transmissions like Hewland. It’s a very clingy lubricant made specifically to make gears, synchros and differentials work better. Love the hi-boy Festiva, what a riot!
