Thanks for taking the time to make this video, first one I found with this engine version, I was dreading all the priming horror stories you hear and problems with air locks but it wasn't any harder than an oil filter change. I did fill up the new filter first just to be on the safe side, car started first time with no issues. You da MAN....

Thank you very much. Worked on. My 2012 fiesta. The only thing I did different was fill my filter with diesel to prevent any priming issues. Started first time with no hiccups

Whether its an electric or mechanical pump on your model, if you reassemble the filter with the cap then fill it to brim full with clean fuel through the inlet spout, that should be adequate to prime it before fitting back into the filter's seat. Some air will enter the pipes when you remove them so it won't be totally air free. I've read that folk run the engine at about 1500rpm after starting to clear any air.

Hi Ger., that's good to hear 👍 ford have gone back to the self bleed system,, i replaced the fuel filter in 141 focus same filter as the one in this video and i had to use that stupid fuck'n bleed tool took me 20 minutes to bleed it before it started.

Hi there! I have a ford fiesta 2011, It has AC compressor issue. May I know if I can swap the compressor with Ford Ecosport as they both share the same engine? Fiesta is discontinued in our country and there are no Outlets to purchase one, if we go to ford service center then they charge double the actual money. Help me out in this!

Hi Gerard! I'm writing from Italy. Your video is the only one I've found,that shows how to change this particular type of filter. My Mazda 3 1.6 TD does have the exact same engine as your Fiesta. Can you confirm that this filter is self-priming? Thanks a lot for your useful video. Neo

Hello & thanks for watching the video. There is additional steps that can be taken to fill the filter before fitting the pipes on prior to starting, I have never had an issue with this engine needing bleeding to start or failing to start (you will need a strong battery to get enough engine rotation to complete) I have suction and syringe type tools for fuel filter jobs but there was never any need on this model Fiesta engine. Like Springer said in the last comment Focus engines are different and I have an easy way to bleed them using suction through a return line which is similar to that on a Ford Galaxy as well. Only worry I have is the battery charge, if that is ok I never had any issues. Thanks

are you 100% sure it'll self prime even without filling the filter cup with diesel?

Fill the filter first, there is only good that can come from filling it and no harm will be done, anything that makes a vehicle easier to start I agree with, On this model I have never had difficulties but I know others have. I had problems starting a Mondeo even after filling the filter to the max, took an hour to rectify and I had to bleed the lines up to the pump on that one. Can the fuel filter cause the vehicle to lose power from the engine?

The quick answer is yes, any restriction in fuel supply can cause an engine to be down power.

Gerard Burke Hmm.Thanks on the reply,My 2012 Ford Fiesta seems to have no codes at all,everything seems to be working but the engine keeps acting low on power.Not sure if there's a mysterious part in the engine or exhaust system causing this.My thought now would be a clogged fuel filter.

If unsure or you can't solve, I would recommend bringing it to a trusted reliable technician to diagnose the issue for you, you may end up spending money you don't need by buying and installing parts without further diagnostic. items such a fuel filter can be bypassed for testing purpose.
