Ford Fiesta MK7 (2008-2012) Door Card Removal & Powerfold Mirror Fitting Guide

How to:
a) remove your door cards (skip to 1:04)
b) check if your car might be compatible with powerfold mirrors

This worked absolutely fine with my late 2010 fiesta, got myself a £10 screw and wrench kit and used a blunt metal knife instead of a trim tool, ordered the wing mirror off amazon. The only thing I'd mention: when you're threading the new cable from the mirror into the door, there's a special canal it has to go through, otherwise the cable will stop the window from going all the way down, quite a fiddle but got there in the end. Saved myself ~£150

AJ UK yeah I ran into that problem, mirror lead preventing the window from moving all the way down. Earlier it actually pulled the mirror connector out and stopped it working all together lol

Thank you for sharing this video. My wife's feista front windows stopped working. By seeing that the switch could be popped out, I was able to see the connector had come loose. You saved us a couple hundred dollars in service labor. Cheers mate.

Great Video, just taken the door panel off to check why the speaker was rattling......there was a penny inside the door panel rattling to the vibration from the speaker. By the way there were a couple of screws on the panel side as the side cannot be popped off from the plugins

Powerfold Mirrors have heating elements in them aswell as the ability to fold automaticly. So if you push the rear windscreen demister button it'll demist/ unfreeze the wing mirrors too :)

Hmm. There were two screws in the side of the doorcard that also had to be removed. I have a year 2011 fiesta.

Did this today and some points that do not really get explained in this video: *If you have a 2011 model the door-card does not just come off as in the video, there are 2 small screws on the lower L/H side of the door that have to be removed and are an absolute pain, in the end I had to leave them in which made the remainder of the task very onerous indeed. *When you put in the replacement wing mirror threading the wire through to the correct opening in the door is a complete pain in the ass and it would be helpful if you have some sort of tongs to assist you in this task. *The window will now only close 2 thirds of the way down and I have no idea why, looking at the previous comments it seems that this is a reoccurring problem. *Make sure you have the correct tools, TORQUE screwdriver with a selection of head sizes and a suitable spanner that can get inside that little hole which houses the retaining washer for the wing mirror. Overall this video is useful but makes the task sound easy which I can assure you is not.

Did anyone have any insight on how to make an adjustment to the mirror assembly to make it sit flush against the door? I'm getting ready to replace the whole mirror assembly on a Fiesta and the old mirror I'm taking off isn't sitting flush but I can't tell whether it is the mirror itself that is bent or a bracket inside the door.

I'm from the USA and trying to figure out why you need powerfold mirrors. Are parking spots that narrow? I like the "anticlockwise" word. Makes perfect sense, in US we use counter clockwise. I have a Fiesta with the manual transmission. Hard to find in the US is an understatement. I watched for removal of the door panel, Thanks

Hi, I had to change my wing mirror after driving it into a wall, it is not sitting flush with the door, there is a gap at the bottom between the mirror and the body work. Is there a way to adjust the angle of the sit?

Ensure you don't drop the wing mirror nut inside the door panel. I used a different nut i found to overcome the problem, but now the window does not open fully any more....

If you have a 2012+ fiesta, the R2 and R3 fuse are completely different to the pre 2012 fiestas. The mirrors are controlled via a separate module.

Dave Moffatt do you know which fuses are for the powerfold mirrors on 2012+ fiesta? I haven't the r3 fuse on my 2016 st so thought I couldn't have them. But after seeing this comment maybe I can. Cheers

I'll be honest & say as of yet no one has come to me with a new 'facelift' Fiesta or ST version so I can't guarantee compatibility. You'll also have a hard time getting a cruise control buttons that lights up blue as all scrapyards will have is the red version from the 2008-2012 Fiesta. Hi Nath, Seen you about on FOC Forums (my username is thefiestaguy). Just done this replacement today on the driver's side RH wing mirror, reconnected everything ok, except for one slight problem which is that the window (right side) goes most of the way down, and then stops. Once you try to go any further it makes a suction sounding kind of noise and doesn't budge. I watched it without the door inserts/cards in place and it appears when it gets stuck the rubber gromit attached to the cable itself (on the replacement mirror) seems to be sucked into the hole where it is pushed through, and I think that is preventing it from going all the way down. Currently waiting for the paint to dry on the primed plastic cover the kit came with and will then give that a second coat. Other than that, it's all gone very well, took about an hour and a half, fiddling around getting the plastic strip off above the torx screws on the door handle (not the door release), and removing the door cards was a pain.

+thefiestaguy I assume you have already solved the problem given the time since the post but its to do with the route you have put the wire back. I replaced my wing mirror a year or so ago and has the same problem, it was the wire that was being caught by the underside of the window. The suction noise you hear is the gromit being pulled in. Take the wire out and re-lay it into a gap that is an inch or so further back and itll solve the problem.

Paul Batchelor Hi Paul, i'll give this a go, i've noticed over the last few days that the right side indicator, electric mirror and window doesn't work, (this is the side that was replaced), i'm assuming it's an electrical related issue. I don't know whether it worked or not since I replaced the wing mirror, but it's definitely not working now. Basically seems the whole right hand side door has lost all electrical power, although i'm able to wind down the passenger's window using the controls on the driver's side, but not the driver's window or anything electrical on that side.

I haven't tried with Forscan, it might be possible. If you don't already have the right fuse box I wouldn't attempt it.
