Suprising how many drivers don't know how to drive on country lanes. They soon learn when they bounce off a lorry. I lost count of the number of near misses I had on those lanes. One BMW driver nearly had a head on with me one morning, he was going like stink. His response when he got out of the car was "you guys don't normally come down this road at 8 o,clock in the morning" Priceless. Keep up the good work.

I know that bend he crashed into you, I deliver heating oil and red diesel around that area. I only ever do 20 max cause the locals seem to think they have a sixth sense as to what's coming around the next corner and most the time going over the limit. Where you turned right towards the hill, if you had carried on straight on, a young girl managed to flip her car on to its roof going up the hill just before Christmas as I was coming down.

The kid in the car was going faster than 30mph, he was running wide and just kept coming at you. His fault because you were right over into the junction and stopped at the point of impact: As for the girl! there are too many selfish, arrogant little know it all’s who think they are the only ones on the road - she’s the sort that would do 53 mph on the duel carriageway and then when you overtake they speed up! should be an offence, nuff said.

Great video as always, happens to me all the time mate, tall hedges, tight roads, and yet because it's a national speed limit road people are hell bent on doing it, I was always taught on roads like that, expect the unexpected when going around bends. Glad the driver was ok, perhaps now he will approach corners with that motto.
@ryanmitcham55224 жыл бұрын
It's a symptom of the way with the 'war on speed' and reliance on speed cameras we've taught a generation of drivers to think only in terms of the speed limit and not actually about appropriate speed.
@michaelthomas36464 жыл бұрын
@@ryanmitcham5522 yes I was taught the speed limit thing back in 1994 when learning to drive with my father, he would litterally scream at me for being 0.5 mph either under or over the speed limit from the time the car engine started to stopped. then turned around, and said I don't think you will pass your test because you aren't planning for the road ahead. lets just say it was a stuggle to stay safe with him in the passenger seat. but when with the driving instructor he was extremely laid back about speed, as long as we were safe, and I was learning properly. and I really done him the favour, plus my hearing a favour by passing my driving test first time by learning the way the instructor taught me rather than my father at the end of the day. plus also not wrapped around a tree somewhere because my father was just hell bent on speed limit rather than safety.

Locals do often become too complacent which clearly is what happened here, especially the young without years of driving experience, a lesson hopefully he has learned. Being country location they must get large farm vehicles on that road or horse riders. Your driving as always spot on but sorry for the shock it gave you.

Nice videos Jenko.Just started watching yours. Your problem with the in cab camera going dark is the automatic aperture adjustment. You will find that where there is a predominance of light (i.e. out of your side window) the aperture setting will try to compensate it and make it all darker to adjust to the varying light condition. You will probably notice that when you were going by buildings or if the sky got darker, your picture became lighter. So, if you can adjust the camera position/view so that the majority of the shot is of you and the cab you will find that the camera aperture will correct for the interior shots better. I hope that helps.

Watched in very slow mo, fiesta made the classic mistake of not following the rule - in slow, out fast. Blind corner, no line of sight, high hedge, took a normal line into the corner assuming it was two way without there being broken white lines to indicate double width, a wider entry would of increased his line of sight and time to react. If you notice his left wheel also went in the flooded ditch so that will have lost half of his brake force because it's a front wheel drive car (80F/20R balance) further increasing the strain on the front right wheel's grip which is the fully loaded wheel. The rest was just the natural trailer cut in. He learnt a good lesson. It's always a 50/50 legally on a non line divided road unless you can prove you were a stationary vehicle being struck.
@CraigG914 жыл бұрын
Happy New year. Your new camera is excellent, great quality of picture and the sound is crisp. Don't think you need your mic now. It was definatly the car drivers fault as he was going too fast round that blind corner and you could do nothing with the swing of your trailer.

That collision is symptomatic of something I predicated years ago, and see daily now. The 'war on speed' which focuses solely on a fixed speed limit (rather than inappropriate speed) and reliance on cameras that detect only vehicles travelling over a certain speed (not inappropriate speed) has trained a generation of drivers to know only speed limits, and not develop the ability to choose an appropriate speed themselves based on on the road and conditions. What you mentioned the other driver said is indicative of this - he was travelling at 30 (under the speed limit) and therefore in his mind he thought it must be safe and feels blameless - when in reality he wasn't able to stop in the distance he could see to be clear. A driver like that, who drivers along mindlessly observing fixed limits will not be prosecuted by cameras in their daily driving, yet a driver who slows down appropriately for hazards and opens it up when safe to do so faces prosecution. I see this sort of stuff every time I go out. A majority of drivers trundle along at 29 in a 30 no matter what. 4:30 am on bright clear sunny morning and the road is dead - 29. 3pm on a weekday afternoon past a school, cars parked both sides and kids crossing between cars everywhere - 29. We've trained a generation of mindless drones. And in the interests of transparency, I'm bitter about this because I'm the driver who slows down past the school, travels at an appropriate speed on roads like in the video mindful that a vehicle, pedestrian, cyclist, horse, tractor etc could be round the next bend, able to be able to stop in the distance I can see to be clear, but then when I'm travelling on a quiet dual carriageway, travelling at an appropriate safe speed simply with the flow of traffic, not overtaking anybody, not weaving through traffic gets prosecuted for doing 50 in a 40 (I genuinely thought it was 50) in perfect conditions with excellent visibility. Because of course the mobile speed camera van isn't capable of nor cares about appropriate speed - just a numerical number regardless of conditions. So our friend in the video can drive around crashing into trailers immune to prosecution, yet I drive around in a manner which means I don't crash into trailers and get prosecuted. And before somebody makes some trite comment about 'just travel within the speed limit it's not that difficult' that's the problem - we've trained and enforced drivers to think only in terms of speed limits and in doing so deskilled their ability to think about appropriate speed for themselves.

A few years ago on a back lane I came across a HGV who had collided with the farmers landy, cops already on the scene, lorry was much wider than the lane and was driving on the grass verge on both sides of the road, ploughing up and throwing the grass everywhere behind him - high hedges - bad bend and just around it was the landy, that vehicle stopped but the HGV ploughed into it, pushing it into the hedge. HGV admitted he was using the lane as a shortcut to save the hassle of being in queuing traffic.....Bad call and was 100% at fault with the lanes even having signs showing ''No HGV's Beyond This Point''

For the changing exposure on your new camera, it's because the changes in the scene are movement outside the window, so the camera thinks that's where it needs to take a queue from (when there was no movement outside of the window, you didn't have this issue) - lighting in the cab helped a little.
