Nice video!!! Actually when everything is OK, STFT values should go from -5 % to +5 % (max values). STFT is what forces the mixture to be slightly rich and slightly poor, in order for the catalytic converter to be happy. You had a substantial air leek. I bet that the LTFT was maxed at about +20~30 % and the ECU was also using the STFT to account for the leek (+5 to +10 %). This is why it needed more time to equalize. SFTL will always change some percentage around a value. LTFT will be stable. To all automotive mechanics out there: Learn what STFT ant LTFT commands are are how and why they are issued by the ECU. It will tremendously improve your diagnostic capabilities.

For anyone else wondering which of the bewildering array of numbers on the pack is relevant, it is 1761516. Awesome vid, thanks for this. My wife's old 1.6 Mk2 was doing exactly this. I noticed it honked of fuel when she started it up and the idle was terrible. Plugged in Forscan and sure enough the short term fuel trim was 12+% and rising. Ford have a parts shop on fleabay and will sell you one for £13.66 and plenty of other motor factors online will sell you an OEM quality one for under a tenner.

Good spot with the hose. Your response to ECU corrupted flash memory is shocking. You just reflashed it, so it could happen again. Exactly like some of your other videos where you just replaced a fuse without learning why they had blown.
@kellytaylor31343 жыл бұрын

@LMAutoRepairs3 жыл бұрын
Hi You must to tell me which was the video where I replaced a fuse without knowing why it was blown... That said, a fuse can blow with a spike that can be caused by a singular event due to certain circumstances... sometimes you can't really dig isto it... If a fuse is blown, you put a new one and it does not blown, there is only so much you can check... you are not going to start to strip the entire car down... are you? Another thing, the software can easily get corrupt... and a reflash can sort it out... Many cars and modules suffer from that... specially due to low voltage, when batteries get low... You clearly have a low understanding about car electronics... Not that I am an expert... far from it... but I had those type of issues in the past, so I know is quite possible... Anyway, thank you for watching and for your comment!
@fuzzs89703 жыл бұрын
Most of the dealers I know would do the same thing though. Flash the ECU first when it's corrupted. Then change it if the problem persist. As for the fuse replacing a fuse is definitely the way to go. If it blows again then investigate
