Cylinders has a slight oval aging. It's totally normal when it's used. Mine has 300k km in it, same noise. One of the Ford Garage lead technician said: "- Don't care about it. It's noisy when cold, disaapering when warming up, it will run smooth further 200k km with this", he said.

When cold. Till idle drops to about 800 - 900. I have one on 40,000 miles and wait each time for it to drop

I took sump of mine and had a look also changed the conros bearings while I was at it. It turns out it is side to side play in the conrod connecting bearings. Most normal engines have no play at all side to side however, these engines do and there is nothing you cam do about it. The bearing caps look like they are supposed to handle the gaping on this side to side motion. Furthermore no one knows what the tolerances are for this nor how to correct it ford just supplies a shortblock making it too expensive to fix. The conrod bearing caps have a wide machined face larger the the conrod width which handles the side to side rod motion. That's what the knocking is

We have a well cared for 2016 Fiesta 1.25 with 60k on it which knocks like crazy from cold and for the first mile. Have done 2 years of troubleshooting, tried different oils and friction reducing additives but nothing works. However engine is smooth and economical with no ,measurable oil consumption so piston slap must be the reason. Its been like it now for 30K+ miles. This engine doesnt have hydraulic tappets and I suspect most of the other variants of this engine do not...

Ebben nincs ilyen ez nem dízel. Ebbe a dugatyúknak van ilyen kopogó hangja de csak hidegen csinálja. Alu henger és alu dugatyú és egy kis illesztési hézag miatt tud kicsit a dugattyú mozogni ami magasabb alapjárati fordulaton hallható. Ezzel is elmehet 300ezret vígan.

Hi we had a 2007 mk4 Ford mondeo with this exact same 1.6TI-vct engine,it had the very same noise and it's not worn rockers/tappets or piston slap or anything of that nature, belive it or not it was the intake manifold swirl flaps,that have worn and come a little loose and is causing this rattle,, we acually tought it was the VCT pullys on the cams that's was rattling,but it wasent,and the funny thing a mechanic told us it was them and we got them replaced with new timing belt kit all for OEM PARTS! and still the same only to find out that someone told us it was swirl flaps in the intake manifold, hope this helps,,

This engine has no swirl flaps. Only the 1.8 and 2.0

Strange becouse ours was 1.6 aswell same exact motor, there is something in that manifold! that makes that noise,we acually drilled a small hole in the manifold to see if it would make any difference and it did, the noise went away,so we replaced the manifold and it was running smooth and quiet,

That's interesting. I have the same issue on my 1.6 tivct fiesta. One garage says it's tappets, another says it's piston slap. Mine does it mostly at cold idle but would stop as long as I put load on the engine when driving. It would then do it again if I stopped or also on overrun when slowing down. Also it would be quiet once warm but would come back again briefly if I stopped for a short while i.e. petrol fill up. Can you confirm if yours made this noise in the same circumstances. Many thanks.

@@cavman543 Same here on my 2009 focus mk2.5 noisy when cold and especially when the engine is under no load like changing gears its really irritating but as soon as it warms up it goes away mostly it can be heard but very lightly. The engine runs really lovely though with lots of power so I don't think this is a problem, it might get fixed with a valve adjustment but there's no need to open the engine for this.

I'd prefer the 100 hp version over the Ti-VCT, it's much simpler and more reliable

@ its from hydraulic tappets change your oil and clean your hydraulic tappets and change your oil every 8.000 miles

@@giwrgostzi1895 ειμακ μηχαβικος αυτοκηνητων μεχρι τωρα δεβ εχω καταφερει να το σταματησω θα κανω μια τελευταια προσπαθεια με καθαριστικο γιω ωστιρια αλλα αυτι που βρηκα στην πορεια ειναι οτι χτυπσει και ο μεταβλητος και κανει σαν diesel στο ρελαντι

A hagyományos chiptuning műhelyek nem foglalkoznak hideg-meleg alapjárat optimalizálással. Gazdaságilag nem üzlet.

@@felattila Nem tudom ennél a motornál van-e az "örvénycsappantyú" vagy mi a fene a neve vagy csak a nagyobbaknál. Azok a kis vákuummal vezérelt műanyag terelőlapocskák. Egyre több külföldi helyen olvasom, hogy ezeknek az a baja. Minden szerviz azt mondja, hogy lóg a dugattyú szoknya, de ez valahogy sehogy sem akar műszakilag összeállni a fejemben. Főleg úgy, hogy 1 csepp olajfogyasztás sincs és benzinnel sem hígul észrevehető mértékben. De ez a dízelhang egy benzinestől nagyon durva.

@@legyes Nincs örvénylap, viszont van Ti-VCT vezérlés (sigma motor) ezt is cserélni kell bizonyos futásteljesítmény után.
