Ford Focus - (2012) super quick easy fix when AC is stuck- only coming out of the defrost vents.

This happens every now and again. The slow-motion fix gets me by so I haven't had to do any more permanent repairs. I've had this car over 10 years and have gotten by just fine. From what I understand, one of two things is happening. Either the vents themselves are heating up and getting "stuck" or the dial (switch) itself is broken.

This part might also work for you but check it with the year of your car: ($30 on ebay)
2M5Z-19C733-AB Ford Dash Control Unit or Climate Control Vent A/C Heater Switch.
Also, make sure your cabin air filters are changed frequently. Yours may be located below the dash board under the glove box area.

why does it happen in only heavy summers though?

hi, does your selector kinda stuck so that you have to move it slowly? coz I have the same problem right now and my vent selector is quiet stuck but when I am pushing it a little it’s turning yet it’s not changing the vents. mine stays on the feet. :(

@@jayangela44 It's not really a quick fix. The dashboard (where the climate control panel is) has to be disassembled. I would suggest watching a tutorial, or seek a professional for assistance, as I'm just guessing.
