It only looks nice in the ST version, the other versions are really bland. Didn't think it was worth the money. The driving position is spot on and have to admit it is one of the best.

The space in the back is waaay less than you try to let see. I'm 1.80 too and when I'm sitting behind myself I only have app 2 cm room between my knees and the back of the front seat. Nevertheless it's a great car which I'm probably going to lease in a few months.

Great review, the car looks great. I hope Ford has changed the transmission as it is so unreliable. A few co-workers had it and they all had major work done on the transmission.

MIke White That transmission was thrown out moving forward I think. Thank god, it was really only one of the few ford reliability issues still remaining, their reliability has come along way, but those cars were black marks against them.

Hi Peter - Jordan Demkiw. He did the FGX Falcon, worked on various models like the new Fiesta, but did bits and pieces. His design won a global competition internally at Ford, so he was made responsible for the whole thing.

Jordan Demkiw, what were you thinking when you designed this? It looks truly awful, especially from the front and the side. The side is really terrible. Way too long and too big an overhang at the front wheels. Only saving grace for me is the rear which is acceptable, but still not great. I've owned every Focus, Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3, but I really doubt I'll be adding the Mk4 to that list...

Not in every version. Trend and Titanium have a normal PRND stick at the floor. ST-Line and Vignale have the dial.

In the EU spec, you get 6spd manual as standard or 8spd DCT as option on all the versions. I guess its the same everywhere?

The automatic is not dual clutch. However it's supposed to be really quick (almost as quick as dual clutch). I'm not sure about other markets but in Greece for example, you can not get the top engine 1.5t 182bhp in auto. Manual only. For automatic you need to drop down to 1.5t 150bhp.

Warm hatches are a step below hot hatches. If a 250HP Focus ST is a hot hatch, the 180HP ST-Line is a warm hatch. Applicable to all lesser versions of hot hatches.

But I feel Ford needs a second chance in Australia, true they messed up the MK III with those stupid Getrag DCTs , but they ve learned from mistakes and after driving it last week , I am sold, easily the best car in its class, definitely better than new Honda Civic and new Seat Leon, the new Golf has better quality though but Golf felt lifeless compared to the Ford and I was shocked to see Ford made such a huge improvement for the MK IV Focus I mean if I can give MK III Focus 60/100 , this is a 90/100, that much better

Americans no longer wanted small saloons. They wanted bigger, taller, softer suvs and massive trucks. Europeans want cars that reward drivers on twisty roads of which there are lots of. It's an overall upgrade that I think would have been very welcome here in the US and exactly what was needed. Updated interior, more room and to get rid of the Powershift trans - I blame Ford's CEO, Jim Hackett for not giving freshened line-up a chance and giving up in favor of exclusive SUV offerings. I'm a lifetime Ford owner and already started moving away from Ford with more to come.
