Ford Focus High Pressure fuel Pump. P0087

I have a 2015 focus. I'm dealing with this fault right now, and I think this video is about to save my life. with no Job currently and little money coming in, this I NEED my car to make money. Midas just quoted me at $1600 to fix this i don't have that. I hope this works. UPDATE: this worked! but I also had to replace the fuel pressure sensor as well.

Did the part from Amazon ever work because I am having the same problem with my car and and it seems like a pretty easy fix my cars RPMs for some reason after 20 minutes or 30 minutes of driving all of a sudden my gas will all of a sudden go up it will be at 1:45 and then next thing I know it's at a full tank and then all of a sudden my RPMs will start shaking and then when I slow down sometimes it will stall out so I'm just asking for a little bit of help if anyone will know if this works I would truly appreciate it and if anyone has the same problems​@@quart4short

I have a 2015 Ford focus also and yeah my car whenever it's running probably after 20 or 30 minutes of driving all of a sudden my gas will go up like I'll have like a quarter tank and then it will jump up to like 3 quarters or a full tank but then my RPMs will start shaking and if I come to a complete stop sometimes it will completely shut off or sometimes it has shut off going like 40 mph and I was just coasting so I was wondering if you had the same problems because I don't have a lot of money to put into my car it's not worth it either I'm just trying to get this fixed so if you can reply back I would truly appreciate it thank you

@@brandonmichael3490 yeah, it was cutting off like that for me too. I would get this irregular revving with the RPM's then i'd stop and the car would idle out. I replaced the fuel pump and the fuel pressure sensor. I've never had that problem again.

@@brandonmichael3490 your issue is the canister purge valve. I've been researching it all day and night. I'm experiencing the same issues and I changed mine but it didn't fix it. Changed the low pressure fuel rail sensor and still no fix. My next guess would be to change the fuel pressure pump which my codes "P00C6" stated was the issue. My 2016 Ford Focus stills stalls and will barley start up right now.

Does your car act up where your RPMs and your gas will automatically go up after driving for like 20 or 30 minutes? That's the problem I'm having and then my RPMs start shaking so I'm trying to see if anyone has these kind of problems if you can comment back I truly appreciate it

Hopefully this will help anyone dealing with this problem but I got a code P0087 engine started cutting off like it was running out of gas after driving in a while I’d had to restart it. Wait a bit then restart and give it some gas and then it would act normally. I went to the junkyard I got a high-pressure fuel pump changed that didn’t work. Problem persisted. Then I moved to the small this sensor and actually persisted with this sensor replacing it because they were cheaper and I got three of them off of various same generation at the junkyard. And I kept changing it until one of them finally resolve the problem. It appears you should start small with this part and persist with replacing either dealer ORM or junk yard. If no go move up fuel components - the fuel injectors coils then going into the engine I think there’s another small sensor on the very top that I was gonna try next and then going into the gas tank for the actual fuel pump Fuel delivery modules.

​@@apexofrandomvidz I meant to revise and edit this comment - the hose that clips, the one that's on the left of the HPFP, where the fuel outputs to the injectors, I think, I'm not a pro mechanic, but that little clip that holds the hose to the pump stem, was loose. The clip is easy to break if you don't do it right. Apparently that was broken before I bought the Focus. When I removed it to install the clips I got from the junk yard, there are gaskets in side that hold it tight. You need those as well. That appears to be a small but significant contributors to the pump working as it should and holding fuel pressure and preventing leaks of course or vacuum type of loss of pressure when you park and return to your car and experience sudden loss of fuel pressure and shut down. The hose should hold tight, with no play nor spinning, those gasket assure that I believe once the pressure is built up, car hot. The combination of several things, starting from seemingly small and easy to overlook to larger, I think is key. From the HP sensor to just this hose and it's connections, gaskets. I'll try to revise the comment or repost it. I'm sort of rushing through this reply.

@apexofrandomvidz I have a 2015 Ford focus and currently I've been noticing my car losing a lot of power and also it has shut down on me I think three or four times but after about 20 to 30 minutes of driving I noticed my gas we'll go from being at a quarter tank all the way to almost a full tank of gas and then all of a sudden the RPMs start shaking so I was just wondering if your car was having the same problems before you replace it? Because I don't have a lot of money to fix my situation and I have to drive 60 miles a day to a doctor so I'm praying this will be the fix

Thank you for the question, I am a home garage mechanic lol. I used my OBD2 reader and this was the recommended fix to begin with. I was fortunate that it fixed my issue.

I gotta tell ya..Outstanding advice.. I replaced the fuel pump myself and the check engine light went away my car is working like it only has 40k miles instead of 105k miles..I have a 2018 ford focus.!God bless you and Thank you!

Awesome, I'm glad I can help. The "repair" was over $1k according to a local place. Simple do it yourself and I'm back on the road.
