how do you get in the car when there is no mechanical lock on the door? ( Focus ST LINE 2019)

Hi Eric, there is a lock on teh drivers side. Unfortunately, it's covered iver with a plastic cap, which looks nice, but it's a complete pain. You need to remove the cap and then you can open the car with the blade

@@TheCarKeyMan so all of a sudden my fob stopped working, I changed the battery in the fob and the locking system worked again. But when I try start ignition the immobiliser keeps popping up. I don’t have the button to start car like in the video I’ve 2014 zetec s. Any tips ?

Hi Donna, if you press the button on the key and the indicator lights flash, then the key is working fine. It sounds like a problem on the car, but not sure what

Yes, if it's not on the column, it will either be in front of the gearstick, in a cup holder or in the storage in between the seats

Is there a way to re programme your key back to the car? I have to keep doing this process everytime I get in the car atm. I changed the battery in the fob and since then it doesn’t work. I have looked at other videos and it shows that you can reprogram your fob to car but seem to need an internal ignition where you can put the blade of a key in and I can’t find one on my 2015 ford focus.

I have a 2011 Ford Focus with keyless start. Got key not detected message, worth noting there was no power either. Jump started and got power (i.e. lights on) however still see key not detected warning and engine does not even attempt to crank. I cant see emergency start key symbol under armrest. Any ideas please i am stuck 😢 any help much appreciated. I dont have spare key.

Look at under the right hand side of the steering wheel where an ignition barrell would be if it wasn't keyless ignition. Should be a plastic circle where the ignition barrel would be (there isnt a key picture). Hold the key up to it.

Hey, I have a Mk8 Fiesta, my key fob was not working so I unlocked the door manually using the hidden key blade and tried to start the car using the key emergency backup position, except the car wouldn''t start and the alarm kept going off. Nothing showed up on the dashboard, the splash screen on the touchscreen came on though and the LEDs on the temperature dials came on briefly. Even when I go to just press a button on my key, it seems about 50% of the time the car alarm will go off for about 30 seconds and then stop. I even changed the battery in the key fob to a new "Procell" one, but it still didn't work. I'm not sure what to do, I hope you can give me some advice.

Hello. Ok, really simple with yours. Is the key more rectangular, with a blade that slides out? If so just do the following. On the right hand side of the steering column, (where the ignition should be) there will be a small plastic disk. Remove that and you will see a hole that is big enough to slide a key into. Next take the balde out from your key and slid it into tke hole, don't try and turn it. Now you should be able to start the car as usual

When i put the key alone itself into the ignition the start button works, then when i put the key back into the main fob sitting in the car, the start button still works. But locking and opening the doors using the buttons on it doesnt?

Yeah its rectangle, with 3 buttons, all plastic. I have put a good quality battery in but still had no luck. I still have to use the key itself to get in and start the vehicle

Hi, yes Ford cars will always have a place that you can place the key for an emergency start, but the location moves around for different models

Hi. it depends on the year. Most common is to hold the key where the lock used to be back in the good old days. Try and press it against the plastic cowling and try the key in different orientations, in that position. Let us know how you get on. The other possibility is whether you have cup holders or CD holders between the seats

@@TheCarKeyMan yes. the car indicated a low battery in the fob, so i changed it. then it wouldn't work. i tried 3 new jcb cells. all in date and just purchased from b&q. i have now discovered that it will open the car, but only if i hold it right next to the window. and it's a hit and miss at that. my other fob works perfectly. cheers

Hi Arthur. As far as I know, and in my fifteen years, cars don't cut out because of the key. In fact with keyless cars, we've had several customers put the key on the roof and drive off and then drive for hours with no key in the car. Once the car is started, it should run and run. Let us know what was up with it if you get chance please?

Hi, thank you for the reply! My car is a 1.5 tdci ford focus ST-line and it just cut out while driving with ‘service engine now’ on dash. The recovery guy came and disconnected the battery but before then I had key not detected and only half the the lights work which make me thinks dead battery or fuse has blown. I managed to get a tow back to my drive and I checked the battery which has 12.68v reading off multimeter. Still no key detected as I get in car so I changed the key fob batteries. I had only changed both fob batts last winter with energiser ones. The emergency start location between the seats has no joy either and with both keys. I am going to check all the fuses today when I get the chance as I have seen stuff on the anti theft system. Also worried that if I pay to get it towed to Ford they are going to con me well out of pocket and scratch their own heads. Nothing really on the internet with my issue. The car simply does not detect both keys as I initially get into it and click over like it used too. Will prob be the last time I get a start stop car with no ignition barrell also. the car is due it’s service too but surely it just doesn’t cut out and leave you stranded? We only had it done a year ago around with 5000 miles since. Thanks
