This video will help you if you have a 2014 Ford C-max. It also covers many other models and years.
When the key stops working as a proximity or smart key, the car may tell you that the key is 'Not Detected'.
If you follow this guide, you'll be able to use the car until you get the key fixed, or key battery changed.

Thank you. I'd watched about 12 videos and none of them explained what to do if you had no ignition slot. I knew that white plastic fitting must have a purpose but you're the only one who showed and explained it. Turned out my key battery wasn't correctly installed, so that problem was easily fixed, but at least now I know how to start the car in an emergency. Thanks again!

I needed this a few months ago. Luckily I was able to finally get the car started and get to the dealership and had the battery replaced. Saving this info for the future.

They need replacing every 12 months even with a really good battery, so I'm sure you'll need it again ;)

Hello & thank you for sharing this great information, it is very helpfull indeed. I have a 2012 Ford B-max and I have had a "no key found" message on my display two seperate times, both times the car would not start so i locked then unlocked the doors with the Fob then the car started. I have put a new battery in the Fob after it happend the first time but it happend for a second time with the new battery. i wondered what do you think is the best thing that i need to do please? Hi, well the keys can degrade, and a symptomn is using us key batteries very quickly. It's sometimes a sign that you need a new key

My 2014 Ford C-Max energi does not have that little button thing where the key is supposed to go. I've looked exactly where you point out yours in mine literally does not have spot. I don't know what to do in my own car is driving me crazy because it won't start. the car was literally working probably fine yesterday with absolutely no problems.

Hl. When I switch off ignition, the remote control will not respond to lock the car for 60 seconds, then the lock with be automatically activated and the remote will start working locking the doors and will be fine until I switch on the ignition again. The unlocking with remote control is fine and has no issue.

Hi Graham, did you find out? Sometimes there is a 'flat' where the hole used to be. If you hold it on the flat surface, this may be it

I'm about to purchase a 2014 Ford Galaxy with proximity keyless fob, like the one you've just shown in this video. Problem is the seller only has 1 fob and I'd have to duplicate a safety copy. Do you have a video showing how to program a fob to open the doors and start the car? cheers!

Hi, thanks for watching again! Well if you want a new fob programmed, it needs to be done with a computer. It doesn't have to be at Ford, a good Auto Locksmith will be able to do this. Are you in the UK?

Hi, no both the buttons and the chip are coded with a computer. I'm sure there will be a local Auto Locksmith nearby

It will probably be somewhere near the centre console, maybe under the cup holders or beneath the radio

Hi @The Car Key Man, Many thanks for the guidance, really much appreciated. My case was the usual replacement of the keyfob's battery. I have replaced the battery with a new one. After that and when I noticed that the remote fob does not work as usual then I've begun doing some research. Look, I have done all, as per your instructions and indeed my grand c-max starts up. Then, I have moved the car slightly and parked it again. I took out the fob from the slot and got off the car. However, the fob but does not work. What am I missing, is there anything else I should do? Many thanks in advance

Hello Thanks for your video . I have Ford CMAX 2014 and my problem is the remote does't work . I change the battery and i tested the signal with my keytool max it's work rpoperly ,howvevr i can't open the car with remote so i usse daily emergency key blade . Do you have any explanation ? If the key is transmitting, then the key should work. There is no separate procedure to do the buttons, so maybe an issue with the car?

I put the wrong battery in my fob. It worked for a few days and then stopped. I assume I damaged it, but in any case, if there's no battery will your method still work, or does it still depend on the key fob being electronically active even if the bottons as such don't work?

Morning. A wrong battery won't damage it so don't worry. Yes the car will still start even without a car key battery, as long as you find the correct place to put the key

What do you do when you are driving with the key in or out of the emergency start slot, then you have a engine malfunction message. Pull over and apply handbrake then it says key not detected then Immobiliser active messages? Ford s max 2010 2.0 diesel. Thanks in advance.

Hi, The other night returning from work , I dropped off the first passenger who exited and opened the tailgate then closed it (a little bit heavy). Straight away the No Key Detection light came on (Bleeping) on the dashboard - I pressed OK and when home. Next day I change both battery fobs, didn't work , checked all fuses still didn't work. Strangely , when I use the fob to start the car it works great, however if anyone opens any door the Bleeping starts again ( No Key Detected). Any ideas?

Hi Terry, that's a very odd problem. I've never heard of it before. Does it do it when you open any door? Is it the opening of the door that causes it or the closing?

Hi, well it's simple really. Instead of placing your key in the hole, there will be a different place for it now. However, they probably had the old style of plastic cover in stock and so fitted it to your car. On the newer cars, there isn't a hole anymore. Does that make sense?

sadly I don't think this resolved the issue with my 2014 Ford C-Max energi. I already tried the security override by placing the key in the slot and powering it on but now even that doesn't work anymore and there's nothing that I can do that will turn this piece of s*** car on. I'm sick of this car and it's more trouble than it's worth. I should never have gotten an American car. I actually replaced the battery on the fob so I feel certain it's the car's fault and not the fob. there has to be some way I can use the detachable key to turn on this car because I am sick of having to fight this every single day

No, sorry it won't turn on wit the metal key. Have you taken the key to a key expert to see if the chip is still reading ok? It's possible that the key has failed
