FORD FOCUS MK3 BLEED COOLING SYSTEM. CAR OVERHEATS AIR IN COOLANT SYSTEM
If you have Ford Focus and you to bleed the cooling system on your Ford Focus MK3 we will show you that. We will demonstrate how to bleed the cooling system on a 2.0 liter engine and automatic transmission but it should apply to multiple engines since they use the same design of radiators. It is very important to bleed the cooling system every time you had a coolant leak, or your drained your coolant antifreeze for repairs such as radiator replacement, water pump replacement, and other. In this video we will demonstrate how to bleed the cooling system on a 2013 Ford Focus but the procedure to bleed the cooling system should apply to the whole first generation Ford Focus.

Hi, I’m a qualified Bosch technician and have been in the industry for many years. I watched your video on fitting a new AC condenser to a 2.0 ltr Ford Focus. Thanks for putting in the effort to list the video I found in quite helpful in completing the procedure. I would like to advise you on a couple of points. First, don’t try and dismantle the radiator/condenser/fan/air dam stepper motor assembly in the vehicle..too hard and you can break clips!! It’s much easier to remove the whole assembly then dismantle on the bench. Second, the hole and chamber under the air cleaner assembly is for backfire not to drain water from the air cleaner assembly. There is however a small hole in the backfire chamber to release any water that might enter the unit. Third, avoid blowing compressed air into the cooling system,. Most cooling systems don’t have heater taps only air flaps so you can expand the heater core very quickly and cause it to leak. Well done on your presentation. David - Australia 🇦🇺

Shouldn't need to raise the car and disconnect that line. That vent tube goes to the top of the coolant reservoir and will air out for you.

I hate to ask, but am stuck in a Northerneastern city inMaine, frigid temps, 6 nights ago, (and after I popped the hood to my '14 Focus SE-and while cold, not started/idling- I topped off the coolant while checking other fluids, then replaced the cap. Started the car, and ran the vehicle (at idle to keep warm, as I was awaiting arrival from a traveling friend) for about 4.5 hours. During this time, operational temp remained halfway (190°F?), And car was blowing perfect, ste-temp heat the entirety of the almost 5 hour period. We went for coffee, so I shut the engine off while in the coffee shop, [a good 2 to 3 hours] said goodbye to my friend, then went out and started my car. I let it run about 10 minutes Now, not even 200 feet down Main St. I FIRST NOTICED IT WAS BLOWING COOL/COLD AIR ONLY, THEN IMMEDIATELY AVERTED MY EYES TO THE ENGINE TEMP GUAGE, {{since my informational LCD screen went kibotch [black]the first time my transmission failed completely, saying "Transmission HOT!" "Pull over to safety", right smack in the middle of the busiest intersection on Rte 1 Southbound, by what was once a decent shopping Mall and only had Neutral.)~this was around 92,000 mi.~}}where I watched the ENGINE TEMP QUICKLY RISE. So I IMMEDIATELY pulled in to a parking area, and shut it off. ••~1ST QUESTION:. HONEST OPINION PLEASE:....... WHAT IS THE PROBABILITY/ LIKELIHOOD THAT-- (+++EVEN*AFTER* IDLING FOR 5 HOURS, allthewhile BLOWING GREAT HEAT, AND REMAINING AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMP+++)--THERE IS AIR TRAPPED SOMEWHERE ???! SO AFTER THE HOOD WAS POP I WENT OUT AND WENT AROUND to check hoses and check for leaks and when I leaned in to check to the lines and/hoses, for cracks , leaksgoing through the heater for four hoses rather and when I leaned in and broke (in several pieces) the overflow reservoir hose the (small line with clamp to radiator valve that you were adamant in the video on being careful, since it was known to be fragile)into in the video. I am currently attempting to patch it the best I can in my dire circumstances (live in my car, btw)since it's a dealer item and I have to wait for it to be special-request ordered & shipped to our local Ford dealer and need to move my vehicle b4 it gets towed away.....Is standard, yellow, flexible air-compressor hose. •••2nd QUESTION:.Just in your opinion, is this line okay to withstand not only the pressure, but the temp the coolant, as it's all I have at my disposal and/or engine can get?

Is there a bleeder valve on the transmission next to the battery? Saw a hose when changing spark plugs that doesn't seem to connect to anything.

Surely if you fill up to max, leave the cap open and run it, the car will push the air out anyway? So long as you keep an eye on levels and temps it'll sort itself out

That’s not how you bleed it... the reservoir tank is the highest point in the cooling system. No need to pull hoses under the headlight. If the car is cold you should be able to start the engine and bleed it through the reservoir. Fill until no more bubbles and level is at max when at operating temp.
@schmo9425
@schmo9425 3 жыл бұрын
I have a ford galaxy and cant find bleed screws either. So I just turn the engine on with the cap off and the air will just bubble out that way?
@DomGaccioli
@DomGaccioli 3 жыл бұрын
@@schmo9425 yeah so fill up your coolant up to the max line, start the vehicle and let it run for a while. Keep an eye on the reservoir, you’ll see the level drop and some bubbles come out, add fluid as necessary until the coolant stop dropping and there are no more bubbles. Goodluck!
